z0mbie 33 Posted May 11, 2012 Was just playing around in the editor and realised the Guerilla rifleman outfit would be much more fitting for the bandit skin in my opinion:Much more realistic than shoving everyone in a german special forces uniform! What do you guys think?(no arguing about banditry please)
Jimmy James 18 Posted May 11, 2012 That's a great choice.I was just thinking it was odd to be in desert camo in the forest. Bandits are pretty damn easy to spot at night compared to survivors.
-=Grunt=- (DayZ) 0 Posted May 11, 2012 Problem is that, ArmA 2's old models can't use backpacks...If the DayZ devs fix these problems, we could have Chedaki or Rebel (Forgot their name, FDC or something?) skins for the Bandits. (Like the less humanity, the skin changes)Good survivors (High humanity) could just have United Nations skins. (UN Officer/Guard from OA anyone?)
Zombie Squirrel 5 Posted May 11, 2012 If you read Rocket's comments in the original Bandit skin thread (or the patch announcement thread), you would know why he chose the precise model he did :) No original Arma 2 units support backpacks. While it might be fitting punishment for banditry to be unable to take a backpack, I guess it won't be so popular or realistic :). Only units that support backpacks in vanilla game (the character models have backpack proxies) are ones from Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead and later (BAF and PMC DLCs). Original Arma 2 models don't. The unit you show is either CHDKz or NAPA faction riflemen from original Arma 2 campaign Harvest Red. The bandit model Rocket chose is from Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead KSK units (right, German special forces), just for the exact reason of finding a reasonably bandit-like character from A2OA - most Guerrila faction characters from A2OA are Takistani militias with oriental clothing and Pakul (Muj') hats.../edit: Ninja'ed by Grunt :)
z0mbie 33 Posted May 11, 2012 That's a shame. Couldn't the old ones be converted to support packs somehow? :-/
Zombie Squirrel 5 Posted May 11, 2012 Not easily I think. It would be possible to mod A2OA units, though. Like people had been doing in Arma2 for some time (Lingor, etc). But keep in mind this mod is still in Alpha stage, and I am sure Rocket has some more important things gameplay-wise to sort out first. I do think he intended the bandit model as temporary. dallas 5195 Posted May 11, 2012 As much as I dislike bandits, I think the shining KSK skin is a severe punishment. The Guerilla rifleman looks great, would be a great skin, if they could only use backpacks.
HannesFury 0 Posted May 11, 2012 Oh, thats a neat one.I find this to be rather off-topic but I would just like to quickly say I strongly disagree about having high humanity characters necessarily in NATO/UN/Coalition uniforms or of the likes. I mean come on, we've heard about this protagonist narrative enough times already.Going back to the actual topic, this looks nice. I don't think we need something very rough or, "terrorist"-like appearance. Just something that is specific to our bandits and, ergo, making them in at least some way, to some degree, distinct to those with a higher degree humanity residing in their heart and minds. That Lamer 0 Posted May 11, 2012 I wouldn't give up the current bandit skin for a thousand woodland camo thermal scoped rifles.
Leechman 8 Posted May 11, 2012 I wouldn't give up the current bandit skin for a thousand woodland camo thermal scoped rifles. What if you had a thousand hands and a thousand eyes so you could use them all at once?
-=Grunt=- (DayZ) 0 Posted May 12, 2012 I believe ACE mod has made ArmA 2 models work with backpacks.

qla 0 Posted May 12, 2012 Didn't someone send Rocket retextured version of the current bandit model, which had woodland camo etc. Could use that while we get a proper one? Tired of spotting bandits 2km away.
The Killing Joke 43 Posted May 12, 2012 Didn't someone ask Rocket to remove the bandit skins altogether? Tired of bandits being descriminated against' date=' and unfairly labeled.[/quote']FTFY;)TKJ

But if he's going to keep the bandit model, it's better to fix the camo (skin) for the bandit atleast.
HannesFury 0 Posted May 13, 2012 As I mentioned before, important is they differ in style from higher humanity characters, and that's number one. If you give bandits a certain set of specific skins, and "good" people also their specific set of skins but without anything that distinguish these two categories from one another, then well, you are gonna have innocent (until then, that is) people killing one another due to the lack of clear concept and characetrization. And that's number one starting point, which one must take into careful consideration before designing, developing and assigning new models with new concepts. Over n out.
