Questions about Tents

Hey,

 

What will happen to a tent when I die?

After which time will it disappear? Will I stop it from despawning when I keep on manipulating it and fill it frequently?

 

Another question: What will happen to a tent when I become inactive and it just stands around in the wilderness for weeks?

 

Background:

 

Months ago I had a tent set up, died, returned to the tent and could still use it for the rest of my playing time. It just stayed there as I always put things in and out.

Now on a new character, new server, yesterday I died, I returned and put new things in it. I log in today and daaamn, the tent is gone... :(

So did it just disappear because I died one day before or was it just robbed and destroyed? Last case would wonder me because my camp has never been found before and this time it's just 1 day old.

I think if you die you have around 3 days to go back to it,I think.

as far as sitting in the middle of no where I think after around 7 days of no one touching it it goes away.

but I dont use tents most of the time.

After you die, you cannot repack your tent (it's not classified as "your tent" anymore). But you can still store loot inside, and it should save.

 

This varies between servers, but sometimes after your tent is un-accessed for an extended period of time (usually a week) the contents are wiped.

 

As for your tent that went "poof" there is a bunch of possibilities.

 

1. Sometimes if your tent is too close to debug, it gets deleted on reset

2. A admin or hacker could have deleted it (highly unlikely)

3. It was looted and destroyed

 

But from #3, from what I remember, after a tent is flattened (i.e. by car, hatchet or explosives) it will pop up on reset, be usable, but empty. This could vary from server to server, or between different mods.

if i remember correctly and according to the current changelog it should be:

 

one week live from the last movement of objects inside/outside

two weeks if saved

when you die i'm not sure but it should be 24-48h, i don't think it disappears on server restart.

 

 

i know that in dayzero when you die it disappears, but i'm not sure since it went from 0.9.9.8 to 1.0 yesterday and i still have to find a changelog of the current version

Thanks for the information. It's very strange, this morning it was gone, but now it's here again. I can't be that blind oO

 

It's propably the 3 Mountain Dews in it :o
