Only getting 10-20 fps, help.

Recommended Posts

I've looked up optimization techniques, and so far I haven't really achieved anything.
I can increase the resolution and have the same fps as the lowest resolution.

Specifications:

AMD Athlon 64 x2 4200+ 2.4Ghz dual core/thread
3 GB DDR-400
Nvidida GeForce GT 520 810 Mhz

This computer can run Modern Warfare 3 with all medium/high settings (No AA) at 40+ FPS on 1600x900
But it can't handle DayZ at lowest possible settings with less than 1024x768?
Are there any tweaks I can make?
I've modified the config files in the Arma 2 folder in My Documents, I've tried evening out the graphics to balance CPU/GPU usage,
But so far I've still gotten only 10-20. And I only get lucky when I get 15-20.

You can look up "optimization techniques" all you want, your hardware simply isn't up to this game, by far. Sorry.

For Arma 2, DayZ,

CPU = old & slow -> shit

RAM = old & slow -> shit

GPU = low end, slow -> shit

Same probably goes for your HDD..

And don't even TRY to compare MW3 to Arma 2.

So somebody else can play this game with a Pentium on their laptop with Intel HD Graphics and pull more fps than I?
No, there's got to be something I can do.

That's... not possible.

If you want to pull playable frames in towns, and good FPS outside towns, you're going to need to upgrade. ArmA isn't nearly as optimized at MW3, and it's a completely different engine. ArmA 2 is extremely CPU intensive, and your CPU just doesn't cut it (ArmA 2 is going to overload your 2 cores). Plus, your GPU is on the weak side, and you're extremely lacking in the RAM department.

3 gigs of ram meaning you aren't even getting dual speed......

Step 1: Save money *ramen noodles*

Step 2: 3570k, once you go Intel you never go back....

step 3: 8 gigs of yummy CL9 RAM *burp*

step 4: To Be Continued...
