Can I Run DayZ Mod? (POST HERE)

Recommended Posts

i5 3570k 3.4GHz ( overclocking it to 4.6 GHz )

MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX780 - 3GB TWIN FROZR GAMING EDITION
8 GB memory.

Can i see myself, Recording Dayz, on a playable FPS 35/40? on very-high. in any situation.
How much FPS if not recording?

Probably ~50 fps not recording in the open. That is a pretty realistic guess for recording, but it will more than likely drop ~25 - 30 on high settings.

The only other thing is if you are going for recording try to use the i7 3770k, it uses hyperthreading alot more effectively and manages multitasking alot more efficiently,

CPU is quite slow, but you might expect ~20 - 30 on low-ish settings.

Processor

  • Intel Core i5-4570 Quad Core Haswell 3.2Ghz CPU
  • Max Turbo Frequency 3.6Ghz
  • Cache: 6MB

Memory

  • 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz RAM
  • Supports up to 16GB
  • 4 x DIMM sockets (2 used)

Hard Drive

  • 2TB SATA HDD

Optical Drive

  • DVDRW

Software

  • No Operating System

Chipset

  • Intel B85 Chipset

Display

  • N/A

Graphics

  • 2GB nVidia GTX760 Graphics Card

Looks good to me, 30 - 40 on high settings.

Desktop

AMD A10-6700K Processor (3.7 GHz)

AMD Radeon HD 8670D

RAM: 8GB DDR3

Storage: 1TB (7200 rpm)

I'm not sure how well ArmA likes APUs so you might only be getting ~30 on low - normal settings. Putting a dedicated card in your system will help significantly.

~30 - 40 on normal - high.

Ok thanks, how would it do if i turboboosted to 3.2ghz?

I believe Turboboost kicks in automatically when you are running CPU intensive programs, but you might see a bit of a difference.

I would recommend 3.0GHz with a 4 core CPU, a decent GPU like the 560+ or 7770+ and 8gb RAM

Remember that those are specs to run the game and give zero guarantee of playability at a decent frame rate.

Lots of people with top-end i7 CPUs and £250+ graphics cards post on here having low FPS or other graphical issues..

Not a new player, but building a new rig. What kind of performance do you guys expect I'll be getting with this setup?

  • Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z Motherboard
  • AMD FX-9590 4.7GHz Octo-core CPU
  • Asus Nvidia GeForce 770 2GB GPU
  • 8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3 2133MHz RAM
  • Corsair Hydro Series H100i water cooling
  • Corsair Builder series CXM 750W PSU
  • 1 x 1TB HDD

It would just about run but it would be a horrible, stuttery experience on low settings.

It's a decent build but it will massively underperform in ArmA 2 because of the CPU. You'd be better off with an i5.

i tried the arma 2 operation arrowhead demo on steam and with the graphic set to "very low" it goes fluid,it's still fluid playng at "low" but i see some lag sometimes.
i don't know if the fact that operation arrowhead works on "very low" on my pc means that i will be able to play also with the dayz mod,pls tell me...
ps. of course i know my limitation and i don't care if i need to set low resolution, just wont to know if i have what i need to play dayz because i'm thinking about buying arma.
thank you

Whilst I appreciate the response, I fail to see why it would fail so badly? As you say it is a decent build, but I don't see how it having "i5" written on the box would make it run particularly better? Considering an i5 has less cores at a lower clock speed.

The problem with octocore cpus is the fact that arma doesnt utilize all of them.

Like Skypill said - you just won't get ArmA 2 to utilise it. It'll be great in games like Crysis 3, but an i5 would perform significantly better in ArmA 2.

Should hold 30+ FPS on low-medium settings.

Built the PC yesterday and gave it a go today. Managed to get 40-50fps on pretty well max settings (All except post processing but that's more personal preference).

Game will run flawless on medium to high settings. I've made a simular pc for a friend of mine (i5 4430, GTX 660, 8 GB), and his framerate is almost always the same or within a 10% difference from my own i5 3570k / GTX 670. I wouldn't worry one bit about it.

Not sure how the AMD will handle it as I have no experience with that cpu. I quickly looked it up and seeing as its not in the same price bracket as an i5 I'd expect the game to run a little less stable (my guess is mostly lower minimum fps) compared to systems with some faster cpu's like an i5. I reckon the game will run fine though on probably medium to high settings, since the 270X is more than capable of doing that.

Desktop

i5 2320 quad core 3.0 ghz

Game should run well, again on medium to high settings (especially on that resolution).
