There needs to be clear indications of who is good and bad.

Recommended Posts

Next time you want to make a suggestion, ask yourself this simple question; what does your suggestion seek to accomplish?

Does it make the game more balanced and player friendly, and seeks to provide the player with extra information about the world around him? If so, go play COD.

Does it seek to create realistic emotions within the player, or to simulate some feasible real world phenomena? Ok, maybe its worth hearing then.

How do you determine if a person is good or bad when they haven't done anything yet?

Here's an idea, use your own judgement rather than relying on a game mechanic.

Maybe you weren't around back then, but we already had what you want and it sucked. The way it is now is much better.

There also needs to be STRONG penalties and downsides to being a murderer. They get satisfaction out of the suffering of others - they need NO OTHER BENEFITS THAN THAT. They don't need loot, they don't need a murder count, they don't need the freedom of silent running against the requirement to chat when playing as a friendly (advantage). They simply don't need to be rewarded, but the game VASTLY rewards PKing and bandit action over being a friendly player.

4 hours of gameplay just to get enough ammunition and supplies to make an ATTEMPT at going inland, and I get picked off by some asshole just fucking chilling in a goddamn hunting stand.

Why do people do that? Because they CAN. We can't stop that without ruining the gameplay... but you CAN make them play that way against the odds rather than it being the favored and most rewarding method.

I geared up and went on an adventure... I could have hung out in Cherno and sniped "newbs" all day, but I don't care for it. Fucking horrible people need to suffer for their murdering ways, like the rest of us suffer for our friendly ones.

You should realistically be more than ready to head inland in about 30mins. There are towns on the way to get anything else you need.

How about an option to toggle "Friendly mode".

What this means is when you place your crosshair over another "friendly" player, your gun lowers or moves around them, never actually pointing directly at them, or if you want a more practical method, let bullets pass through them (reasoning being, you aim your gun around them). Just some basic ideas, here.

This way, no asshole can set to be "friendly" as a ruse, and "friendly" players will know who they can bro-up with.

Thoughts?

Bandit life should have its drawbacks.

And people who say it shouldnt are probably bandits and should be ignored :P

If we have a heartbeat we might aswell have different indicators and imo they shouldnt just be for the one life but for maybe the next 5.

Maybe lifes arent a good way to determine it since people can just respawn over and over again but you could work it out as 5hrs of playtime or any other amount.

It really sucks that the good guys usually get shot. And yes, its realism i get that. But in a game you dont have to fight with your conscience before you shoot someone, you dont have to carry a burden.

I bet 95% of the people who say "its you or him", "you would do anything to survive" or similar stuff wouldnt do it if shit hit the fan. And i dont blame them.

There's a solution to your problem. You can take retribution for all the poor new players. You can be a beacon of light during Chernarus' darkest night. You can be a symbol...ok this is making me laugh to much but you get the idea.

no, NO NOOOOOOOOOOO ! thats completly unsanboxy. you are limiting the game if you do this "no asshole can set to be friendly.."

man ,thats exactly my point, thats fun to use ruse in this game, thats part of the gameplay. Why do you want to have a poor gameplay trowing out some of the basic hardcore mechanics ?

On topic... I encountered someone, and my heartbeat went up, I ended up shooting him to spare the world from this "asshole" when I got the kill it went under the murder count and not the bandit kills, so just to let you guys know in case you didn't

Heartbeat racing not equal bandit

I mean honestly it portrays all the people in DayZ as sociopaths (you can't tell if they are a ruthless killer or your neighbor). Which is just absurd and unrealistic.

Watch the news. Anytime a murderer is caught' date=' all their neighbors say "he seemed so NICE, I had no idea he was capable of that!" There is no easy IRL way to tell someones intentions.

[/quote']

....dude the media just covers the "unexpected crimes" you dont hear much about the thug or gang crimes cause they are expected WHY?

Cause they involve people who look like the bad type which makes them un news worthy since news worthy shit is only shit that would be surprising or unexpected jesus.

So you've come across another person in-game but you're not sure if he's a good guy or a bad guy. What should you do? Well for starters you should find cover! Always be in cover' date=' good or bad if he can't see you, he can't harm you. After you've found cover, use your mic or the direct chat text to ask him! 'Hey, you there by the church! Are you friendly?' if he responds with 'No' or doesn't respond, then turn around and leave. He's baaaad news. If he responds with 'Yes', turn around and leave. You've got to be a complete idiot to fall for that.

Moral of the story: Assume everyone is bad and play with just your friends

Or grow a sack and stop worrying about losing your items if you get betrayed.

[/quote']

That limits the game....your logic is flawed

The game should not force people into private parties the SOUL of this mod as i keep hearing is for it to be REAL and shit i love how it is only allowed to be REAL when it is convenient for them.

Grow a sack? first off i don't care about being betrayed cause THERE IS NEVER A CHANCE TO BE BETRAYED IT IS ALL SHOOT ON SIGHT BULLSHIT ANYWAY.

>talk about in game realism

>list movies and books as reference

you realize those pretty pictures on your television are ALSO fiction' date=' right OP?

[/quote']

...uh ya but are you seriously trying to say that im not allowed to reference fiction that bases it self in reality (for the most part the only realistic ones that are "HARDCORE" realistic i admit are probably the road and clockwork oh and the postman i guess too forgot about that one still the others are realistic just exaggerated a bit)

ok and i guess i have to elaborate for people like you who try and seem clever.

IM talking about the realm of REALISM this game is trying to commit to...a ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE so why am i not allowed to reference other fictions based in reality? HMmm?

Honestly i do not understand your point by making that comment.

The Road

Thugs who stole and killed/ate scavengers and survivors

Let me guess' date=' you didn't actually read this book? Or if you did, you didn't have the attention span to make it to the parts where they encounter people whose intentions they AREN'T SURE OF and it creates INCREDIBLE TENSION and an AMAZINGLY HEART-POUNDING STORY?

Did you get to those parts?

Hmm?

[/quote']

Well where you may be right i clearly said give me more examples of where the line between good and bad people are not clear and i will accept the idea that all the avatars (is the graphical representation of the user or the user's alter ego or character. It may take either a three-dimensional form, as in games, yes that was copy and pasted cause i just didnt want obnoxious replies talking about the stupid movie) are all sociopaths and that everyone should show no change whatsoever.

Until then well i guess i just won't listen.

How do you determine if a person is good or bad when they haven't done anything yet?

Here's an idea' date=' use your own judgement rather than relying on a game mechanic.

[/quote']

Brilliant i love the simplicity truly...guess what smart ass everyone does that already and you know how they "judge" they shoot on sight and don't even try communicating that shit is unrealistic.

Don't worry' date=' Rocket has said that teamplay is going to be an important development focus, so all the QQ bandits in this thread who want to remain anonymous so that can backstab and grief people will just have to live with it.

:p

[/quote']

I hope so and i knew it would get negative backlash from said bandits but it is sound to see the majority are the aforementioned bandits just talking shit and using half ass logic to object to the ideas given in my first post.

I know for a fact that all those bandits just read key words and said

"OH i know something about that" the proceeds to write something that is framed to benefit their argument.

i.e the guy who brought up if i read The Road book he brings up some tiny even within the story and uses that a reason to tear down my entire view....which is laughable really.

Maybe you weren't around back then' date=' but we already had what you want and it sucked. The way it is now is much better.

[/quote']

If you are talking to me

Look when i joined the forums....what month it was that i played the game 2 weeks before making a forum account.

Yes i know about bandit skin and what not...and WTF you talking about it was way better back with the bandit skins... the only thing people hated was the fact your items would disappear after morphing back into a survivor.

People like you just cried and whined because they hated how they couldn't trick anybody....boo fucking hoo.

WATER WORLD

I lost it at that bit.

This game is not for you OP.

I was just listing off the top of my head ok shit people. Replace water world with the Postman there.

P.S i bet money you just skimmed and saw that key word and just stopped there and decided OHP "hes a moron better let him know"....amiright?

[/quote']

Live with what? The fact that teamplay mechanics means I'll find you ridiculous sheep in large packs so I can kill you all at once and get it over with faster?

Sounds pretty amazing actually.

yep i knew this guy was a hardcore bandit he always goes to boards and tears down anything that would make PVP lesser than it is now (right now it is out of control which is understandable since it is the only real activity).

WELL THAT WAS FUN

I just felt it needed to reply to some of those posts.

Most are QQ bandits who don't want PVP made lesser in any form and actually wish for it to be the dominant activity (even though its the only activity right now)

Others were bandits trying to point out unimportant parts of my post to make it sound illogical or god forbid UNREALISTIC it is a mod full of FUCKING ZOMBIES, YOUR ARGUMENT IS INVALID.

Listen to those who have half a brain and are opposed to my topic and are actually reading this (you few you very few)

I AM NOT BASHING PVP. I am merely pointing out how i would like for it to have more depth besides it being one of two things

1) OH FOUND SOMEBODY BETTER KILL HIM

OR

2) OH FOUND SOMEBODY BETTER HIDE.

Just wish there was more option in dealing with people (which people can find themselves they just need incentive to not shoot everyone like a mindless idiot who is just too scared to try and communicate)
