performance issue

Recommended Posts

i normally get a playable framerate in arma 2/3 and planetside 2 and 80+ in other games on max settings but recently my frame rates have been around the 14 mark and i have no idea why. i use a 660m all the latest drivers are instaled ive also tried reinstalling them. so does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? if you need more details i can give them.

-thanks for the help REM  :beans:  :beans:  :beans:

What are your other specs, Arma is really CPU dependent? Where are you getting these FPS (i.e. towns, forests, etc)?

ArmA does this to me literally all the time. While my laptop isn't nearly as good as your computer seems to be, I'll go from 40-ish to 5 and not be able to play.

I usually set up Advanced Systemcare (free from IObit) and tell it to scan/clean/fix my PC, defragment, then shut my PC off. Everything is all quick and clean after that. If that doesn't work, I'll run CCleaner (also free) in lieu.

Use a program like Razor Booster to defragment the game's directory and tell Steam to do a file verification. It's usually pure coincidence, but that's improved my performance as well.

Might also be worth doing a scan for malware with something like Malware Bytes.

i tried what applejaxc recommended and ive restarted my laptop but when i played planetside 2 i was still getting 14 frames when i wouldve been getting 30, ive even put my graphics settings to the lowest they can go

edit- ive just verified files and it looks like planetside will need a fresh install, im going to try arma 3 now

edit 2- ive just tried arma 3 and my frame rate has improved but is still not excellent thanks for the help guys. im going to reinstall the games when i get a decent internet connection and see if that helps

You just never know with this game, sometimes its good, sometimes its bad. I have 2x 660ti's (6gb VRAM), 16gb ram, i7 3770k @ 5.0, and I will sometimes get 60 FPS, or it will plummet to 20fps. A lot of the time the server has something to do with it.

I'm sorry my suggestions didn't help, Remlap, but that's all I could think of.

Have you compiled a ridiculous "-maxframesahead=0 -gpucount=X -threadcount=X -nologs -whatever -whatever -whatever" for ArmA 2/3? I'm desperate for every frame I can get, and that will take me from 15-ish to 25-ish (replace X with the amount of threads/CPU cores/whatever)

Also... now probably isn't the best time, but would you like to play test some ArmA 3 missions I've put on the workshop? :)
