Standalone,Epoch, and Overwatch.

Recommended Posts

I've been playing Overwatch for quite a while and I just started playing Epoch and I'll have to say this. Overwatch seems to be a better done version of vanilla and Epoch seems to have the Pve that the game needs. While epoch could have done things better and a bit more smoothly it's still a good start. Currently as Dayz stands zombies aren't a threat, there's no reason to do PvE. As of right now zombies are nothing but an annoyance. I feel like the Standalone should end up using quite a few ideas from Epoch for Pve and Overwatch for it's amazing gun sounds and a lot of the weapons in general.

A few ideas that I think should happen with Standalone. (These are mainly just opinions, feel free to make comments and maybe even post your own ideas)

1 - Slow down the speed of zombies by 50%
2 - Add 4-5x more zombies, as of right now I barely feel like it's much of an apocalypse.
3 - Give a reason to go out and kill zombies, maybe they'll end up dropping some sort of money. A zombie is bound to have a wallet on em' yea?

4 - Right now base building is on the list but it needs to be done correctly. I feel like it needs to be kind of a safe haven for players and a place to store loot. A big part of this game is finding loot yea? What's the point of doing all this if it's just gonna be stolen the next day.
5 - In addition to the base idea there needs to be some sort of pve threat. Say a big horde of zombies will eventually come and start to attack your base.

6 - Could even add a city where everyone ends up auctioning off gear or selling rare medical supplies.

Just a few ideas that I have... there's a reason DayZ is just a big PvP fest, which is cause there's nothing else to do... I personally prefer PvP, but I think there should be a good balance.

1. I don't see how making zombies slower would make them more of a threat

2. SA will have a set amount of zombies that spawn at every server restart.  Certain areas may have more than others.  If zombies actually are a threat in SA than it would work possibly.

3. Well zombies already drop stuff and for one reason or another we kill them.  Whether it be that they are in our way, a threat, or some other reason.

4. Hiding loot from other players is fun imo and I enjoy raiding tents.  I hope in SA your base actually can be raided.

5. Bases will be underground in SA so hordes wouldn't work imo.

6. I'm not a big fan of safe zones where players can trade gear but I know there are a lot of people who want it.

Or, one could go out and kill a player. A player is bound to have loot on them, yeah?

Your suggestions won't stop DayZ from being a PvP fest.

erm I got killed by Zombies last night on an Overwatch server. Apparently they can and will kill you if you're stupid enough to shoot a Lee inside of a house. Derp

Because it'll get to a certain point where you're over run by zombies. If you were to add 4-5x more zombies in it's current state it's almost be unplayable.

The set amount can be changed, obviously.

They don't actually drop anything that really makes them worth killing.

It sure can be fun. But it's way too easy to raid bases/tents.

Not set in stone. He's not 100% sure if it'll even work with the engine.

Just have to wait and see what they decide to do.

I couldn't disagree with you more on this point...I've survived for days off canned food, soda and ammo found on dead zombies...I hunt them quite often

It's probably the worst way to get the 3. Killing zombies for food/water is good if you're in a pinch, that's about it.

In a real apocalypse there is no need for money and there wont be some kind of legal tender.. if anyone were to buy stuff it would be through trading. And saying overwatch is a better version of vanilla is stupid(no offense). They did the same thing as breaking point, add a bunch of weapons and skins, put in a sound pack, and call it a whole new mod.

I wouldn't say it's stupid. It's just an improved version of vanilla.

If camps are not raidable there will be an over abundance of weapons and the careless pvp will persist.

And killing infected is a great source of food and water. Especially since the 1.7.7 update. Much more reliable than looting cans.

dayz is a pvp fest because the general public lacks imagination.

any sort of trade area or "save zone" as another post put it should be based on how safe the players make it, and how much other players can trust them, which is a feature currently available in the mod.

I didn't say the mod was stupid, I said calling it better than vanilla was stupid. It's not improved at all, they added a bunch of guns and skins that they didn't make, the same thing that breaking point did, and called it a whole new thing. Overwatch is mainly about pvp with all the new guns and the features like self blood bag that make player interaction less worth it. They haven't really done anything other then make it more interesting for pvp.. not to mention every server seems to have at least 300 vehicles on it.
