Well there is a mod in ARMA 2 where you can use horses.. as you can see, they're not really "attractive" to use

horses and ride able animals would be great with an element of crafting.

I think they should have some mechanics from Red Dead Redemption with horses. Like shooting horseback and being able to turn and look on a horse. Also standing on the sturrups so the horse doesn't have so much strain on it's back so it can move faster.

 

Horses should also come in many, many colours. And manes and shit and stuff.
