proudgoose 0 Posted August 10, 2013 I was wondering to myself a few days ago, how would standalone be sold? Here's my suggestion: You can buy arma 2 + operation arrowhead (£17 on steam) and download standalone for free. ORYou can buy a version of standalone by itself (without requiring arma 2 or any variation of it) for a smaller price than buying arma 2 and operation arrowhead. I'm welcome to suggestions to how you think rocket will sell standalone. thanks for your time - Goose

rossums 2190 Posted August 10, 2013 Yep, as the above poster said it will be released cheaper in Alpha. They are using a similar method of release to Minecraft - once the 'base' game is released, it will be designated as still being an Alpha build (So incomplete and probably a little buggy) but will be cheaper.Once enough development and progress has been made and they think the game is worthy it will be classified as being in beta stage and the price will be increased. The game will then be developed and polished a lot more in time for a proper 'retail' release where it will be given a proper 'complete' price. The standalone is exactly that, a standalone game. It requires no other games to run, it's completely separate from DayZ mod and Arma II:OA
Mos1ey 6301 Posted August 10, 2013 ARMA 2 is a game in it's own right. Why should you get a free copy of DayZ if you buy ARMA?
Death_Dealer 3155 Posted August 10, 2013 Yeah, it will work like Minecraft. The SA will be cheap while it's in early development, but prices will rise over time as they get more done. If you buy it early, when it's still in alpha, you'll get all the updates for free until the game is fully finished and they discontinue working on it. AKA it's yours forever. I already have $50 set aside to be sure I'll be able to purchase it the day it comes out. :)
