Legit 0 Posted June 20, 2012 I've spawned on the beach and it is all dark. I have no clue where to go or what to do. I didn't spawn with a gun and when will it be day time? It is also in first person and i've seen other peoples videos on youtube in 3rd person. Which do you prefer and can someone please help me out? Thanks :D (Also, when i move it seems to be a bit awkward, is it like this for everyone or is it just my graphics card? My graphics card is kinda old and are there any graphics cards i could get under $150 that could run Dayz on the best graphics?) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
ZogVarnoka 26 Posted June 20, 2012 1. Try playing on a day server when starting out. Most servers list the timezone that the game operates on in their name based on either UTC or GMT. Which is often different from actual server physical location.2. The game operates on real time (24hr cycle). So if it is day in the timezone the server is set for it is day in game. Same goes for lunar cycle. Weather in game is randomly generated as is fog.3. 3rd person, if enabled on the server, is activated by the numberpad "enter" key. I prefer 3rd for moving and first for shooting. First being r-click to bring up sights. !st person for moving is fine also, but a PITA while proning/low-crawling.4. Try turning off head bob in options and possibly turning down mouse smoothing. Also probably have to lower your graphics settings a bit as the game is not well optimized and can bring even high-end pc's down to there knees. I play on a 9800GT, quad core 2.4ghz 2200, and 4 gigs DDR2 ram just fine (30-40 fps), but I have almost everything turned off or on low settings. Make sure you have video memory set to default as setting it to high/very high makes the game only use 512 of your memory instead of cards maximum.Not sure of current prices, but just about any card that's been made in the past year or two will be fine playing at high settings with a little tweaking. walrus2517 27 Posted June 20, 2012 I'd recommend playing through a few of the Arma tutorial missions in game to get used to the inventory and key bindings. Just spend 20-30 minutes running through the first few and you'll be far more prepared.Personally, I generally use 1st person when standing/crouched and 3rd when prone, but I toggle between them often.
