Bleeding chance seems high

Forgive me if this information is available somewhere else (I'm new to the forums), but what is the chance of bleeding from a zombie hit? It seems very high to me. I started playing DayZ again after a rather long break, and since nowadays hunting towers and buildings have very often zombies inside, I run into situations where I have to engage them in melee fight (before it used to be way easier to avoid combat). The problem is that usually the first or the second hit from them starts the bleeding which practically kills me. Maybe I am just a gigantic idiot and missing something, but some info and tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
