kukri and melee weapons mechanics

Recommended Posts

Melee weapons mechanics

I think the melee weapons could use some "re-amp"

I understand the hatchet, and crow bar taking up the primary slot.

They are big thus take up a lot of space.

but I also think there should be smaller knifes, like the hunting knife (Sog Seal pup knife) and Kukri that go in the utility slot.

but can be accessed by the action menu.

Like how the AT and AA launchers are in the back pack slot, but you can get them out by using the action menu...

same mechanic but with the utility slot and melee weapons.

Kukri

with the introduce of melee weapons, I believe there should be a mother effen kukri!

http://www.coldsteel.com/gurkhakukri.html

I personally own this one (i didn't buy for 300$!) and I can promise you, it will cut strait threw you. rival a katana.

The game is bad ass as it is, but to have a gurkha kukri would push it over the edge!

And yet, we barely have functioning melee weapons as it is.

Sorry man, if they do start to add bladed melee weapons, don't expect it to be something exotic like the kukri.

As long as the Devs don't go crazy like the last few zombie games, and make melee all powerful (Dead Rising, Dead Island, etc) I'm fine with the addition of most any melee weapon, in reality.

But I would expect easy to find ones, like axes, hammers, crowbars, sledgehammers, hunting knives and maybe even a chainsaw if you were crazy enough to use it (uses gas, makes loud noises). I'd love to discuss the kukri, and the insane damage it could cause to a clear strike against a man's neck or upper thigh, but I need to visit my bank.

I'd rather see more guns, though. :P

I agree, I don't want it to be like melee crazy. but I think the way this game works, it can't be like those games.

Melee weapons will at most be a factor, but it will never own the game like those games due to the PvP. It's pretty much impossible to get within 30m of each other unless you run in to each other in a building =p

The thing is most of us just have no idea wether that would be easy to implement or not.

IF we could have a hatchet thats heavy damage but slow (good against zombies)and can be used as a weapon and for getting wood and a knife that is low damage fast high injury rate (more against survivors) that can also be used to get meat still that would be cool.

Dont really think we need so meany weapons.

Yea, I understand that.

It could also be a alt. to having the primary slot taken up by the melee weapon.

And I don't want a whole list of melee weapons like there are for guns

I'd honestly rather have the action menu way of selecting your melee weapon, rather then the primary slot being taken up.

but I also think the primary slot being used is kinda neat in a way. so i tried to put the two together

and youre right that would be cool.

Though its nice gameplay wise to force people to specialize.

Someone else mentioned that other items ( toolbox, maybe sandbags(they wouldnt need the toolbox for playcement anymore), car parts) should also only be carriable per hand and thats cool imo

people would have classes like sniper, assault, melee and engineer/utility just by their equipment.

I like the idea of some exotic blades in a Rare Hideout maybe an antique but i would like to see something like a big hook more.

I think you would like my backpack idea that's in my sig.

Though i don't know of a melee class would really catch on ;)

Sadly that isn't an actual gurkha kukri... it's just some knockoff that coldsteel made.

Real ones have a blood grove and blood drip on them. As for putting in the game... maybe, I really don't want to see it in the game unless it is done well, and considering there aren't that many people trained with them, I would rather just see a knife.

I know, I just linked the one I had ;)

I would rather see a traditional kukri rather then the cold steel gurkha kukri too.

though as far as people being trained with them, idc bout that lol. we're not "train" to gut animals, make fires, repair heli/cars etc either.
