Hive error: Unknown internal error

Recommended Posts

Been getting progressively worse for me.  Used to be about 50% of the scheduled restarts failed.  Now, every one fails and it takes upwards of 10 restarts to get it to finally connect.  I'm down at least an hour a day because of this...

The ratio for me now is about 1 out of 6-7 restarts. Someone must still have access to the host SQL host, because things like these do not happen out of the blue. Some configuration got changed.

I bet with the close release to the SA they do not bother anymore with dayz for arma ...

Well I only hope there will be a fix soon.

Oh look; get into the office today and all the public servers are offline due to this error.

If there's no one supporting Public Hive servers any longer; at least do us the favor and just tell us. I'll gladly just switch over to my own cluster of Private Hives.

How about some official communication on this regard? Sometime this year.... because I'm not counting on SA to be able to do what I can at all.

My server is not crashing but I'm not getting any vehicle spawns can any else confirm this on their server as well?

I've limited my server restarts to a few times a day just to avoid baby sitting so many of them.  However I myself have noticed vehicles not respawning.

The hiveext.log does indicate that the vehicles are present but:

  • They are not rendering

or

  • This is their last location before being destroyed

Either way after several days none of the helis have appeared.  The server in reference is US 434.

I have this problem as well and I have tried Jimmy's fix with no luck.  Any more ideas?

We have noticed the same thing. If server connects to hive, sometimes the items do not load into the server. Requires another restart ... gamble for hive error .

Vehicles for some reason do not respawn ...

Ok - and the dayz community team would like to continue to work with a party that gives informations like this ?

IMHO these are the options:

  • Keep on waiting until someone feels like doing something.
  • Post a contact address and let users and serveradmins shitstorm them
  • Move the existing hive data to a new server / provider
Dump the database, move the data to the new servers, create hotfix to link the servers to the new database or change a-record accordingly if possible
If you do not have own server(s)/no financial means to get them - find sponsors
  • Bite the bullet: Create a new hive
If the existing data can't be moved "because host is fucked": Get new server(s), create empty hive DB from scratch.
Still better than having this element of uncertainty in the long run.

I'm being told this should now be fixed. Let me know if your still having issues connecting to the main hive

I just gave my server 5 consecutive restarts and it successfully gained a hive connection each time. If the issue returns I'll post here.

Just did a restart with no error. Looks like we are good-to-go. Thanks!

Not sure if anyone needs it but I wrote this Babysitter application a while ago so I don't have to babysit my servers all the time.

It will just check your hive log for the timeout and kill the server if it timed out.

You will still need a autorestart if you want it to restart!

In order to use it you will have to use the -pid switch on your server startup and name it in the attached config file.

For example: arma2oaserver.exe -pid=pid.txt

You can specify multiple servers in the servers.txt but you need to specify the pid path and the log path for each of them.

Here is the download link:

http://forum.swisscraft.eu/DaRT/Babysitter.zip

It may kill your server on the first startup. So make sure you start it for the first time when no players are online or warn them ingame before.

What we need is a clean line of communication with whoever is responsible for the public hive database servers.

R4Z0R49 is put right into the line of fire with these problems and then is given no good answers for the server operators.  THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE!

Anytime there has been an issue with the hive, the response time is reprehensible.  The support.dayzmod.com site has been abandoned, yet mods still insist on saying, "Have you opened a ticket on support.dayzmod.com?"

Honestly, if the community devs / bohemia / whoever is still responsible for it do not wish to waste anymore time or energy supporting the public hive servers, PLEASE just tell us so we can stop pulling our hair out.
