h3l1x 327 Posted July 26, 2013 Why drop the gun? I explained in my post. It's quicker to drop gun + mags than just mags. You could have marked it it your map. I didn't go too far, 200 meters tops. Had visual contact with the area I dropped the rifle all the time. Also don't have gps, so marking on the map wouldn't be much better than me having a visual memory of the particular tree I dropped the dmr next to (which I thought I did, and usually works). Soupee 57 Posted July 26, 2013 I explained in my post. It's quicker to drop gun + mags than just mags. It's exactly two less clicks. You only need to drop two mags for some logs... and you keep your gun + some rounds if you need to defend yourself.I know it's "facepalm", but to save two clicks? How many hours have you spent with your finger holding down the W button?
Soupee 57 Posted July 26, 2013 I bought a Logitech G500 about a year ago. I don't go bind crazy on mouse buttons, so I never really did much with the config. I have had two major complaints since I bought it. First, it is constantly scrolling. It doesn't matter much in most circumstances, but in DayZ I am constantly... and I mean CONSTANTLY having to right click or spin the center mouse button to "cancel" a weapon change or action. Second, when I'm in combat I have died multiple times... probably 15-20 times because in the heat of battle with zeds with rapid mouse movement my mouse will scroll and my next "shot" will actually be a weapon change. So I will stand there doing weapon swap animation getting beat on by zeds. I had modified my controls at one point to remove the mousewheel from any use in DayZ so that I could avoid this. While it worked, it was a HUGE pain to select anything from a multioption menu. So I just learned to deal with it.Fast forward to yesterday, I finally did some searching on the net. I saw a blog of a guy having a similar problem and he basically made a fabric friction "wedge" to slow down his mouse wheel. One person on the blog commented that "maybe you have just pressed the "turbo scroll" button and didn't realize it. Guilty as charged. When I first bought the mouse it probably had the button pressed when I was unpacking it or during shipping. I KNOW I had pressed that button in the past, but never thought it did anything. Because I'm a anal bastard, if I press that button once, I ALWAYS press it a second time to "reset" whatever function that button may have. So I got on last night and played for about a half hour with the correct mouse wheel setting and it was dreamy. It only took me a year to figure it out, so not too bad, right? need matches 84 Posted July 26, 2013 Inside train station. Bandit ran in. I zigzagged outside the front door, to the left, and waited to shoot him with my handgun. Sure enough, he came out. But I had my "throw" on and threw a tin can at him instead. I died.

How many hours have you spent with your finger holding down the W button? Well I get lazy ingame sometimes. Also if you think about it I'd also have to transfer a empty tin can from my pack to my inventory in order to boil the water. So 2 slots for the wood pile and 1 for the tin can, 3 slots needed. So keeping the rifle in my inventory without mags (since I had 3 mags on me at that time) wouldn't be much help as in protection from other players. And it's much easier to spot on the ground a rifle with 3 mags than 3 mags (in theory). Holding down W? Not a single hour, I'm a leftie, using arrow keys :p
kander 80 Posted July 31, 2013 Saw a bandit in the woods this morning (one of the UK servers). First time I had obviously seen someone in the bandit skin. He had not seen me. Instead of shooting him with my fully loaded DMR I found myself thinking 'that''s interesting, wonder where he's going". It was near a deer stand so maybe I thought he might be a zed, and not worthy of my DMR round, I dunno! If you could picture some dopey theme music (maybe off Curb your Enthusiasm) that would sum up my woolly apathy at this moment. Then he turns and sees me, I am aiming at him, he still needs to aim. Instead of shooting, I try to run away. He shoots me. I die. Not KoSing a bandit when I had him in my sights? That's a facepalm!
JSparks (DayZ) 109 Posted July 31, 2013 Sniped in one of those small pine trees, and then the next thing I saw was zombies.Oh god, the zombies. The amount of leg breakage was too damn high!
BigChef 55 Posted July 31, 2013 After looting a deer stand I simply pressed "S" before scrolling to "climb down ladder" fell to my death...respawned and did it again at the station house!
