mitor 176 Posted July 21, 2013 Hello, First things first: Processor: AMD FX-8150 BE @4000mhzGraphics cards: 2x HD 5850 1 GBMemory: 2x GSkill F3-12800CL8-2GBTDMotherboard: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3PSU: Corsair TX750First HD: INTEL SSDSA2CW080G3 ATA DeviceSecond HD (Where my Dayz is): WDC WD20EARS-00MVWB0 ATA Device (2TB) Well, with my current rig, I barely reach 30 FPS while playing Dayz, sometimes I can reach 40 FPS at the open fields of Chernarus... And better not talk about cities, in which I have roughly 10 - 15 - 20 FPS. The problem is that there is no performance increase when I lower the settings. (Lately I have been playing at 1024x768 with almost everything set at low and the overall performance is the mentioned above). So, Is there anything I can do for improving performance? I have the latest AMD drivers installed and the temperatures are stable (Lower than 45º both graphics card and lower than 55 the CPU). Thank you.

mitor 176 Posted July 21, 2013 ARMA 2 has issues with utilising SLi setups. Is it using both cards? Hmm... I have it activated, and seems to be using both cards... Sometimes. Also MSI afterburners says sometimes that both graphics cards are being used at 0%
sean.koen85@gmail.com 17 Posted July 21, 2013 don't put setting to low, it'll take the load away from the GPU to the CPU, and that won't handle it.Set video memory to default in arma video options, not high or very high, but default. Turn AA off, and HDR quality low.that helped me for about 10fps increase. For the rest, dayz is just badly optimized, not much to do further about it... St. Jimmy 1631 Posted July 21, 2013 Object Quality no higher than normal, Post Processing off and Anti Aliasing off. Those are the biggest fps killers and other things don't eat that much fps. Setting Shadow Quality lower than high makes your CPU work on it so it can be better when on high. Also try without SLI.
Mos1ey 6301 Posted July 21, 2013 Hmm... I have it activated, and seems to be using both cards... Sometimes. Also MSI afterburners says sometimes that both graphics cards are being used at 0% Well if it's using both cards at all then that probably isn't the issue. Try setting texture detail to high or above and everything else to disabled/very low/low, whatever the lowest setting is. Also, have you modified your config at all? And are you currently using any startup parameters? don't put setting to low, it'll take the load away from the GPU to the CPU, and that won't handle it.Set video memory to default in arma video options, not high or very high, but default. Turn AA off, and HDR quality low.that helped me for about 10fps increase. For the rest, dayz is just badly optimized, not much to do further about it... That's only the case with texture detail and shadows, everything else seems to share it's load logically regardless of quality setting.
h3l1x 327 Posted July 21, 2013 Disable shadows if you haven't already. For some unknown reason the game would crash on me after half an hour of game approximately, as soon as I disabled shadows it never crashed again and also gained some fps. Also try different servers, on some I get 60-40 on others 40-30 (excluding player count). There are so many factors when it comes to dayz fps you have to try many approaches. barrett_killz 229 Posted July 21, 2013 Add FXAA and you'll gain some FPS as well, tested this on two Radeon GPUs.
Rekli 995 Posted July 21, 2013 I've heard if you don't put any settings on high you aren't even using your GPU much.try putting 1 or 2 settings up to high (if you haven't already)

mitor 176 Posted July 21, 2013 Well, deactivating crossfire seems to significantly improve performance. Not only that, but I also have sometimes extremely bad performance when I connect to a server. If I close the game and enter again, the problem solves itself...
