Low FPS GTX680 + i7 3930k

Recommended Posts

Guys,

I know this game is not optimised and cant use my entire computer capacity.

But, here is my config:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-3930K 3.2 Ghz
  • Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth X79
  • Video Card: ASUS GeForce GTX 680 4GB
  • Memory: Kingston HyperX Beat 4x4 GB DDR3
  • PSU: Corsair AX760 80+ Platinum
  • SSD: Samsung SSD 840 Kit 250 GB
  • Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 3TB 7200

When i play the game, i got like 50fps outside cities and 30 inside.

My CPU is running at 20% and my GPU at 50%

I have these settings (FXAA LOW)

Any idea what the problem is?

Hi,

In fact, that is not reflecting your config. The current version of dayz mod has some fps issues and sometimes server admin need to restart the server to fix that.

In normal condition your GPU should reach 100% and your FPS should increase, this FPS issue should be fixed in the future hotfix i guess.

It just sucks like that.

God that CPU and GPU are MEANT to be overclocked...

I tried clocking the gpu but it doesn't seem to like it, plus, temps are high as it is.

Don't overclock for arma 2, that's just stupid. Burn out your Hardware 50%faster. Arma 2 doesn't need to be OC'd especially with the rig u fing have. to over clock arma means almost certain death for your PC's parts. Arma 2 requires atleast 3.1ghz (processor), a gtx series 4 and up, and a SSD for the Arma 2 PBO file indexing. That's it. u do NOT need to overclock at all. plus if you overclock for +3 fps, then holy god damn hell, i feel extremely sorry for your computer.

This is just silly. Every pc I've ever built has been OC'd 20-40% and has run flawlessly (currently 2600K@4.8 for two and a half years). If you do your homework, have excellent cooling, and stay within reasonable voltage/temperature parameters, you'll get a "free", reliable performance boost. Intel and AMD sell unlocked cpus with big oc headroom specifically for this purpose.

As for ArmA 2, when you take into account that the bottleneck for most people is a single maxed-out core, it stands to reason that increasing the clock speed of that core will increase your performance/framerate.

Edit - @OP

The hardware your server is running - as well as number of players/zombies and time since last restart - will dictate your performance to a large degree.

Your cpu usage may be at 20% overall, but if you take a look at task manager, you'll likely find one core at or near max usage.

You have plenty of GPU headroom, so cranking up the settings a bit will likely result in similar framerates but improved visuals.

Ok, but are you the majority, how many people do you think that play arma 2 or even asking what specs are good enough to play a online game, how good do you think their computers are??? yes, u can OC the S**T out of your computers because YOU know what YOUR doing. a shit load of people on these forums don't even know how to change a CPU let alone install there own OS. i see tons of people telling other people to download Overclocking programs without even getting information on the other person's computer to see if it can even handle over clocking. IM merely just stating a "Silly" comment that most users should not OC their computers parts and for arma 2 that is "silly" because it doesn't fing need it.

If you know enough about your pc to OC it then you "should" ignore this because it does not apply to you.
