JustThatEpic 72 Posted July 3, 2013 I see a lot of posts about people looking forward to all these things that are being added into the standalone such as clothing, a much better engine (which is definitely something to get excited about), and an all around improvement. There's one thing however, that people are missing about the standalone. The entire Arma 2 Utes island is going to be off the coast of Chernarus. Can you just imagine what you can do with a secluded island? One that can only be accessed by helicopter, boat, or a large amount of patience swimming? If people were impressed with hero bases, bandit bases, or any bases of the sort, imagine what you can make out of an entire island that is 5120 x 5120 meters. One that that I'm looking forward to the most is Utes, and that's very, very certain. Also attached the Utes map for people who aren't familiar with Arma 2.

Michaelvoodoo25 3120 Posted July 3, 2013 IMO Utes is crap, never liked it in the Mod, PVP island is all it is, was and ever shall be.With Chernaurus North of it, a new experience awaits. But, there had better be more boats to come and go.Oh yeah I'm with Fraggle, remove the airfield but have the island as a prison.
Acix 132 Posted July 3, 2013 nothing about the recent changes to the mod, breaking point or what ive seen in the SA excite me in the least... everything is looking worse and worse, the SA videos seen fro rezzed and E3 look like dumbed down versions of the mod built to have stupid new loot and a very poorly overhauled UI and bag system along with adding crosshairs and such making the damn thing look like WarZ. Not impressed at all

Not impressed at allThey would have to try very hard to match the poor UI from Arma II. Sure it was fine for Arma because you really did not have to interact with it that often but even a poorly overhauled UI is better than what is currently available. Have you ever played WarZ? Just like they would have to try extremely hard to make the UI worse than it is now they would have to attempt the impossible to match how terrible WarZ was/is. Sergey Titov is the Michelangelo of bad video games and WarZ was his Sistine Chapel.
OfficerRaymond 2064 Posted July 3, 2013 I can't help but lol'ing at this thread... we all know there will be nothing but death and unwanted buttsecks on that island. It's gonna be like fucking Jurrasic Park III on there and we all know it.

I personally haven't played DayZ Utes yet, but I've heard some bad things about it. But when you have it off the coast of a 255 km land mass, I think it might be different. But when you have it off the coast of a 255 km land mass, I think it might be different. It'll matter what is actually on the island. I don't doubt it'll be the home of some actual military loot, which as we all know will be like a needle in a haystack in SA.If this is true, then prepare for chaos. If it isn't, then I honestly see no reason to even venture there. It'd be a long long run, only to get to an invaluable area with nothing to reward, too small to put a base on due to the lack of space, and then the journey back. When I play, I allocate my time to valuable tasks. If something isn't worth it, then I don't bother.I gladly welcome a chaotic challenge though, all the merrier. JustThatEpic 72 Posted July 3, 2013 I dont think SA could stand such a large map chernarus+dat island of urs..Well it's been confirmed by the mighty Bean King. It's all apart of Chernarus+
Cap'n (DayZ) 1827 Posted July 3, 2013 (edited) Well, I'm disappointed at the exclusion of vehicles. And I hope that Dean doesn't stray away from the Armaverse(if you've only played the mod and haven't even tried the game, I want to ass rape you and steal your liver >:( ), because I'd just love subtle hints to the ArmA 2 campaign. Oh, and I feel like Dean is trying to turn Chernarus into something it isn't. I don't want some modern urban sprawl nation, I want a Eastern European ex Soviet satellite state under turmoil. I want this to be Georgia meets Yugosolvia meets Czech Republic. If Dean takes Chernarus in a different direction, I'll be VERY disappointed. And I can't stress this enough, play ArmA 2 if you haven't. I'm tired of all these assholes who neglect the main game. Its like playing Gmod and never touching Half life 2. Its a sin to neglect a game this good. Edited July 3, 2013 by Cap'n

One of Real Virtualitys strong points in scale. Chernarus could realistically be 400km2, but they'd might want to look at something a little bit more reasonable, like 350 0r 300. Not impressed at allI was lead to believe that crosshairs is a server side choice, not central server side rule. I don't get why the bag system has gotten worse, nor the loot, nor the UI. It looks functional. You are still able to double click, same way as you would have before. Blanket "I don't like anything about this specific thing" statements always make me uncomfortable, cause I doubt there is going to be much discussion. It has not been confirmed to my knowledge, and if it has, then oh well. Isn't a zombie Apocalypse in no way related to the Arma 2 campaign? Isn't that straying off immensely already?I've played over 24+ hours in Arma 2+OA. Shack tac missions against real players are the only interesting thing for me. The campaign and co-op missions are just boring. Like to have my play time have meaning, and DayZ did that perfectly.

I see some pretty skilled PvP players, and I think its such a shame they've never touched ArmA.

ArmA 3 is in no way connected to ArmA 2 so far from what I've played, unlike ArmA 1 and OFP. We aren't actually playing the whole nation of Chernarus; we are in a small province bordering Russia. OfficerRaymond 2064 Posted July 3, 2013 What? Have you ever played Utes? I could imagine several medium-sized bases on it. Check it out in the Arma II mission editor.I have played a ton of Utes, rofl. I bought Arma II way back when and all I used to play was Losi's armory. There is no way you'd ever get anything hidden on Utes for longer than a few days, particularly if it holds any areas of high value loot. It'd be like putting a tent anywhere within 1km of NWAF in vanilla, not necessarily going to be found, but EXTREMELY risky.
hogscraper 328 Posted July 3, 2013 I have a 275 hours or so in Arma3 and a grand total of zero in arma-anything else outside of Dayz. No idea why, either. Just something about the earlier ones that I didn't care for. I've played Dayz on Utes and definitely looking forward to the different dynamic of having it alongside Cherno instead of on its own.
