boxknife 1 Posted July 1, 2013 (edited) Good evening (PST) DayZ community! I've been pondering about this idea for a few days now and I've finally got all my ideas collected together into one base plan so to speak. Before anyone says anything I am not aware of any ideas similar to this or if Rocket and his team are adding such things into the SA version of DayZ. So please be courteous and stay on topic of the this idea. So, what is my suggestion? Well I will tell you right now! Why not add tactical gear and clothing into the game that will have a benefit the player and not just make him look cooler. My main ideas would be:Tactical vests: these will allow you to hold more magazines at the ready and also have the ability to have sappy plates put in them. One in the front one in the back and one on each side. A somewhat rare piece of gear that could have multiple different variants (some have more pouches, or only front and back sappy slots or all four slots for sappy plates).Sappy plates: this piece of gear will be vary rare and break fairly often (seeing that the player will be shot). You can put these in a tactical vest that you've found to give it a little extra protection and the disadvantage of having more weight on your person. You would also be allow to choose to put the plate in either your front or back (big sappy plate) or left or right side (small sappy plates). There will be two sizes of plates to fit in each said area of the vest. So if you have only one big sappy plate and think your gonna be shot in the back, you can put it on your back. They will save you from an injury depending of that caliber of the round you get shot with. So the plates will have a maximum protection of the 7.62 round. But are penetrated by a 5.56 because the plates that the American military makes are vulnerable to that round. It will save you from one shot and one shot only because that's how they work. You get hit, the plate shatters and you are now prone to fatal injury from the next oncoming rounds. I personally think that this could be a cool addition because it could give a player that extra edge in a firefight. But it makes it fair because they are rare and can only save you from one round(just hope the person your shooting at is a bad shot).Gas masks: helps with contaminated areas and prevents any type of air born infections. Decreases vision and shortens the burst of sprinting. Tactical pants: have more pockets and allows the player to crawl and walk around more silently without making much noise(when you walk your pants brush, making a noise. Or when your crawl the fabric rubs on be ground, making a noise).Military grade boots: very durable boots that won't degrade as fast at other shoes like sneakers. Some can come with soft rubber souls that allow to to walk around more silently. Warming layers: help you be less prone to colds but can cause you to over heat and get sweaty if you are running around alot with warming layers on. Then you could become wet from the sweat then causing you to be more prone to a cold. And that's all the ideas I have. Sorry for posting this before I managed to type out the topic(accidentally hit post on my phone). So I'd love to hear everyone's feed back about my suggestion and maybe add some input or more ideas on the gear. Thanks, I hope you all liked my topic. Tl;dr: basically there will be more tactical gear in te game that will give a positive benefit to the player and also a negative one. Sappy plates that can protect you but make you a slower target. -Gews- 7443 Posted July 1, 2013 So, what is my suggesti"... then the writing suddenly trailed off, obscured by large spots of ink and what may have been blood..."Anyways if you put the word "tactical" in front of something, I'm probably not going to be a fan of it, but that's what a lot of people seem to like these days. Judging from the standalone's CZ75 with a large threaded muzzle, accessory rail and fibre-optic sights we'll probably be seeing a fair amount of "tactical" gear in it as well... -Gews- 7443 Posted July 1, 2013 Anyways now that it's all posted I don't see any problems with adding any of this stuff. Ballistic vests will be interesting (I'm assuming at least some form will be in). I hope they don't take the lazy route and go "minus 50% damage from all weapons" or some nonsense like that; any armour should give realistic levels of protection.Still not setting my expectations too high... from playing ArmA 3 Beta I can see that soldiers in 2035 don't seem to have body armor, and I'd expect ArmA 3 to be more concerned with that than DayZ... <_<Would be nice though. boxknife 1 Posted July 1, 2013 I jut feel like to could add an interesting touch to the game. Imagine "oh shit I found a tactical vest! Sweet!" Then some guy rolls along and kiss you then he's like "oh sweet a tactical vest! I'm glad I saved this big sappy plate". It just adds a nice small extra feature to the game that gives it it's extra unf. Make you keep and eye out for something more than just guns as a means of protection
applejaxc 2500 Posted July 1, 2013 Pretty much all confirmed... Motorcycle helmets, for example, reduce blunt force trauma to the head (Melee attacks). Ballistic vests and the like have already been discussed... at length... by Rocket, the others that are in dev blogs, and the community (it's kind of an extremely obvious thing don't you think?)... and clothes aren't meant to "Just make you look cooler." If that's your deciding factor in the SA, you're retarded. Clothes are supposed to be chosen based on carrying capacity and practicality (jacket for cold environments, boots for mountain hiking).
boxknife 1 Posted July 1, 2013 That's great to hear. I hope they go in depth with it too. Make some clothing be preferred to preference more than just these pants are better than these ones. People who prefer stealth over more carrying capacity and vise versa.
