The woods/items

Recommended Posts

Hi, I think it would be good to make something that would allow players to play/live in the woods out of of city. I'll explain what im thinking about

At the moment, there is nothing really to do in the "wilderness" but choping wood and killing animals. How about there is some items that spawn in the woods, like blueberries or mushrooms. The idea is that there would be two kind of items. Those who spawn in city and those who spawn in the wilderness. At the moment there is no chance of survive without visiting city every 15-20 minutes. When I play Dayz, I'd like to live mainly in forest, and visit towns rarely, just when I really need some items but I cant because this game is only about going to houses. If there would be something more o do, collect in the wilderness, players would start going deeper and deeper into woods which would be good. Then people would maybe divide into two groups. Those who like to live, "hunt" and searh for loot in towns an those who spend alot of their time in the woods and go to the town when they need a X item. I know somebody could say "But the map is so.big, and if more players would mostly be in woods, then it would be hard to find any player'. But as I said it couldnt bee possible to live only in the wilderess without going into the city. What I mean is items spawning in the city would be way better than those in the wilderness, but it would be.more dangerous to look for them because of other survivors in the city. Items in woods would be worse than those in town, but it would less dangerous. For example: items spawning in wildrrness are some food like bluberries or maybe sometimes a weak pistol. OFC those items would be very rare, not like those in towns who are easy to find. For another example in wilderness there could be itemz for crafting system which I think will be pretty good in Standalone.

And on of the main point of this is that in the wilderness zombies would be more dangerous than in cities, because of lack of houses to slow them down and run from them (thinking about upgraded AI of zombies in Standalone)

sorry for mispelling some words but i was writing this from my phone and I suck at it.

This is justan idea, post your opinions, your own thoughts and wha

t would you add/change to my idea.

Underground bases are a planned feature.

I think foraging is a planned feature (I don't know for sure).

Pretty sure more animals are getting added.

Roving zombies will now be in the forest.

Also: Wilderness zombies being more deadly than city zombies? *facepalm* ...no. Just, no.

Berries have been confirmed, but not sure about nuts & mushrooms.

I'm thinking the cities will be the lazy man's way of gearing up fast, as you'd find lots of canned food and drinks there. The obvious major downside is cities are very dangerous.

The woods, however, will probably be a slower paced but much safer way of surviving.

He means that the zombies in the wilderness will be more deadly because there will be no buildings that you can run in to slow them down.

I love the idea of more things to do in the wilderness, and i don`t think player interaction need to happen that often.

How many survivers would survive this kind of event, with all the infection and them killing people anyway?

If we get walkie talkies in sa we could ask to check if there is some one around.

You know I like this, maybe you should be able to find a cosy log cabin in the woods and set up the fireplace while sitting in your armchair and eat beans while you look at the poor chumps freezing their asses off outside.

Rocket mentioned at Rezzed that you would be able to gather wood from trees (which we already can) m, but he also mentioned gathering grass. He didn't say what it was for, but I'm guessing (and this is because of real life use) to help start a fire.

Um, why are you personifying items?

You don't need to go to a city... All you need is 1 hatchet, box of matches, water bottle, hunting knife, and an empty tin can.

All of these can be found in one quick pop into a town.

That just get to easy and boring as it is now, but if hunting was a challenge, and collecting berries and mushrooms could get you killed if you picked one of the meny poisonous ones. Plants could also be found and used for several medicinal benefits. The poison and other items could be used to craft weapons and traps.

That would be more interesting and fun, to me at least. I want to have to use all my learned knowledge of the game to survive, feel desperate when time is running out cause of hunger, thirst or sickness.

On the note of poisonous berries/mushrooms and other things, as well as helpful plants, it would be cool if one of the books you could find was a guidebook to identifying those harmful and beneficial plants
