Hi.

Not sure how to remove the Steam version of the mod (unsubscribe to it if it is like the Steam Workshop mods for other games), but you should.

Use a tool called DayZCommander (www.dayzcommander.com), which allows you to easily install the mod itself, the arma2 betas (required to play DayZ), and various different maps that people play DayZ on. You can favorite servers, filter them, see who is on them before you join, the whole shebang.

Good luck! You're in for the ride of your life... there is nothing like the first few hours of playing DayZ where everything is new and confusing!

Delete the DayZ MOD on steam.and re-install it with DayZ commander.It'll work the same...but with a better everything.

Using DayZ commander gives you much more flexibility in managing the mod, what versions you're running etc.
