random fps drops?

Recommended Posts

So I'm having a big problem with dayz..soon after joining any server i will start to experience dramatic frame drops from 25 to 40 depending on what i use in launch parameters for dayz commander to 9 or 8 fps lasting about a couple of minutes and happening every 10 mins or so.It happens on every server i join i've tried almost everything i could find on forums and I've seen nothing close to what i'm experiencing...i've tried changing things around in my cfg files ive tried to make a ramdisk and ive tried different launch parameters i've also tried all i can with the in-game video settings...Now im not really sure if i made the ramdisk right because it didn't mark itself as unformatted after marking it as fat 16 partition like it was said in this video,Instead no mark appeared after creating the ramdisk

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmeLuCQXn-M

And i don't really know if i'm using the dayz commander launch parameter correctly

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta -nosplash -maxMem=2047 -exthreads=7 -maxvram=2048 -winxp -CpuCount=4

plz if there is anyone reading this who can help me and is willing to help me thru skype if necessary plz let me know.If not plz reply in forum.

I have an Acer 7750g-9810

i7-2670qm

6gb ddr3

AMD Radeon hd 7670m,2 gb vram

PLZ HELP

Welcome to Arma 2 / Dayz, it happens to the best of us. Some servers are wah better than other, big town plus a lot of zeds = a drop in frame rates. No amount of tweaking g will change that, you might gain a little here or there but not to a great extent imo.

The Standalone should be a bit better. :)

yes i am rejoicing in the fact that their making a standalone version but that doesn't help me now. i understand that dayz is a very demanding game but my problem is unique zombies spawn in proximity of your character and my frame drops will happen even if i'm in the middle of an open field away from people or zombies

hello there

If its a laptop, is it throttling down your CPU to save energy?

Give it a google, I know it can be combated but there is risk vs reward.

i dont know exactly what u mean by throttling down but my laptop does have energy saving.so i recently went into my advance power options and put everything to 100% and active i hope that is what you mean.but i'm having problems entering my bios to enable intel turbo boost my f2 key takes me to "insydeh20 utility setup 3.5" where i cant really do anything because of how limited it is.I've also tried most other f keys and del but nothing works to take to to bios

Intel Turbo Boost isn't something that you enable, it automatically boosts itself by a few Mhz whenever your CPU is under heavy load.

I think the main problems are that 1) you're playing on a laptop and because of this probably suffering from overheating issues and a slow HDD bogging everything down and 2) your CPU is a little slow.

What are your current graphics settings? A screenshot would be great if possible. The best thing you can do is make sure that they're set up to match the strengths and weaknesses of your system. RAMDisk will help a little bit if you manage to get that working because your HDD is probably slow, but you'll only be able to fit DayZ on there. You'll still be running all the ARMA .pbo's from the slow HDD.

i'm sorry it took a while I've been busy i hope you guys haven't given up on me lol http://i.imgur.com/iR2a2aA.jpg heres the pic of my ingame settings and i would appreciate any help.i recently worked with zgraphz and we set up my launch parameters correctly to work with my ramdisk

-mod=E:\@DayZ "-nosplash" "-maxmem=2047" "-world=empty" "-winxp" "-cpucount=4"

he also told me to close dayz commander after launch to help with my frame drops...and it helped but its still not gone,i mean to get back in touch with him but i didn't want to bother him so soon lol
