kealthkewk 14 Posted June 26, 2013 Hey is it still worth to buy arma 2 for Dayz or should I wait for the alone Dayz game to be released? I saw that arma 2 was on discount on steam but I'm not sure to buy it if the alone game will be released soon.
zecele 211 Posted June 26, 2013 I personally would wait for the standalone.
BwobBwub 660 Posted June 26, 2013 I have a feeling SA will be out in a month or 2. Arma 2 & OA are still very good games though.
FPSNige (DayZ) 0 Posted June 26, 2013 And the full package is just over 12 quid in steams current sale. Well worth the cash. I personally don't think you'll see SA till October time.
Gobbokirk 546 Posted June 26, 2013 Alpha SA won't be for everyone either, so at the mid week offer they got now it's a bargain. And also ARMA 2 it self gives you plenty entertainment.
Skat3rat 1633 Posted June 26, 2013 Your choice. SA will most likely be out within the next couple months like a few others have said. Unless there is some type of delay or issue, I highly doubt it will be after October. If you have the cash for Arma, go right ahead. There are a lot of fun mods and game modes for Arma 2. Jcksnrs (Jackson) 0 Posted June 26, 2013 Personally, I would buy the game and install the mod. The Standalone will be a true alpha (because it's being worked on by a small, indie team) with textures missing, no vehicles, etc. The main thing that is being worked on is server-client architecture, which seems to be one of the only things that will be finished upon the arrival of the SA. I think that the first release will be missing a lot, and it's therefore a good idea to get the mod and Arma II

Cap'n (DayZ) 1827 Posted June 26, 2013 Arma 2 is a great game, and it'd be pure ignorance to neglect playing it once or twice to see if you'd like it. We don't know WHEN the Standalone is being released, so it would only be safe to go ahead and get it so you wouldn't have an unbearable wait.
lordopeth 274 Posted June 26, 2013 (edited) I mainly play DayZ now but Arma itself is a good game. All I know is that not knowing the release of SA is giving me an aneurism and is leading me to have constipation with a side of heart palpitations'! I think that the first release will be missing a lot, and it's therefore a good idea to get the mod and Arma IIThere weren't any missing textures in any of the demos, nor did they say anything about missing textures. Missing animations is a different thing. However from what I understood vehicles will be in the game at release, they'll just be the same as the mod. Then they will revamp them later. The SA will be better than the mod in almost every way. It'll look better, run better, play better and be better. No offense to the mod devs, but when you basically write an engine specifically for a game it's going to work a lot better than the mod.
