won't see servers, and several errors on start-up

Recommended Posts

I bought the Arma pack, of Arma II, and 4 other games, all different versions of Arma, and after wards I downloaded the DayZ. I only bought the pack to play Dayz. Everything is bought off Steam, and everything should be installed in the same location. At first, I tried running just the mod shortcut, and it didn't work. So I ran Arrowhead and Arma II first, past initial set-up and got several errors like missing shaders and missing animations and stuff. If those are important, let me know and I'll be more than happy to supply the full error. Anyways, One game had "@dayz" so I enabled that. Nothing. The other game had "@dayz" and "Dayz" so I enabled both and got The Dayz mod shortcut to work, but now find any servers. I just spent like 2 hours waiting for all of this to download, so needless to say I'm a little disappointed that that Steam has let me down, but I hope the fine people of this forum can lend a hand. Thanks in advance!

1. Run both ArmA 2 and OA once to the main menu to complete installation.

2. Download DayZCommander from http://www.dayzcommander.com

3. Run DayZCommander and click the "install/update" button from the top menu.

4. Click "Install" next to ArmA 2 (103718). Wait for the download and install to complete.

5. Click "Install" next to DayZ. Wait for the download and install to complete.

7. Filter 'DayZ only' and 'hide wrong versions' from the dropdown box on the left and join a server, if you want to play other mods/maps you will need to install them separately via the install/update menu.

Do that, then post back any error messages exactly as they are written (or screenshot them)

Regarding steps 4-5, There is no "install" button near them. The only button are "view change log" and Arma two has a button telling me that the servers are up and running. Dayz has, in small red text, that there is an error, and if it persists to re-install commander.

Post the errors.

on commander, it says "DAYZ COMMANDER: 0.9.1.85 (Error - if persists, reinstall vie www.dayzcommander.com). An error I get when trying to run the mod directly, on start-up, is "Addon 'dayz_anim' requires addon 'CA_CommunityConfigurationProject_E'" Then I click OK and everything ran normally this time. I rememeber that I also got an error that mentioned a Bin, but don't remember which Arma it was.

Sounds like a firewall issue, you may need to add DayZCommander as an exception.

To allow DayZCommander through your Firewall on Windows 7:

1) Go to Control Panel > System and Security > Window Firewall

2) Click "Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall"

3) Click "Allow another program" from under the programs list

4) At the Path, click Browse and browse the DayZCommander.exe into it, and choose which kind of networking you are using to allow DayZCommander (Public, Home, or both to be sure)

I have Windows 8, but it works the same way, and I added it into the firewall, along with Webroot. I still get the same error, but no additional errors. EDIT: When I go into "Expansions" I get an error, " No Entry 'bin/config.bin/CFgMods/DZ_InitWorld.action'".

You have to enable .net framework 3.5 in Windows 8 I believe as it's disabled by default. It's in the control panel somewhere under turn windows features on/off. May require a reboot after enabling I'm not sure.

Both frameworks 3.5 and 4.5 have a square in their check box. some are checked, some blank, and come a solid square. I tried to check it, but it just turned it off, and went back to the square. EDIT: Never mind, I solved it. 3.5 is now fully operational.

No idea then tbh, check your paths are correct under DayZCommander settings, if you aren't getting install buttons though it usually means either the framework isn't installed or something is blocking access (firewall etc)

If it means anything, this time when I started Dayz, Steam asked me if I wanted to run the mod or a beta patch. It still gave me the start-up error, but when I went into multiplayer, a bunch of servers showed up. I have not joined one yet, but I'll try that now and edit this post to relay the results. EDIT: Everything seems to work. ;) Thank you very much! Now to learn how to play...

Do you still get the issues with DayZCommander, it's a much better way to install updates/patches and launch the game as well various mods tbh.
