Zombie and Frame Rate in the SA

Recommended Posts

I haven't played DayZ in a long time due to a couple of things that really bug me. I'm hoping they will be fixed but I haven't got much hope.

The first problem is the zombies. To say this game is a zombie game, they don't seem to be the focus of development. They're buggy and they run like olympic sprinters as soon as they see. I also hate their animations, they seem really jerky.

The next thing is Frame rate. Everything is fine in this regard till I hit Cherno and sometimes Elecktro. Low frame rate dips ruin the game because I can't get to any major cities and sneak round the zeds. Now my machine is kinda medium-low but I can run other games on medium-high, however I know DayZ takes a lot of calculations so I can see why I have to lower my settings.

Have any of these things been discussed?

You need to watch the presentation Dean did at Rezzed a few days ago.

FPS should be generally better all round due to the game being most server side. But remember that it is still a demanding game, a decent PC is needed to play with good settings. Oh and zombies should be fixed, maybe not so much on the first stages of the Alpha, but a few months into the game and most things should be working fluently.

Well dean was running it on a laptop so hopefully that means it will run a lot better.

Laptop looked like it was made by Alienware or Origin

Anyways he has stated that it will be alot more smoother.

This has me worried .... Hands down, the glitchy zombies are the worst thing about DayZ. They are bad enough for a volunteer-run mod, but surely they are going to be fixed for the paid-for standalone?

He has said both^^

I don't remember exactly where he said this, but Dean said that performance should be over all better, although not by a huge amount. While they are improving server side things etc, that will also be outweighed by the massive amount of things they are adding.

Kind of a + then - if you know what I mean, but still better then the original.
