Low framerate and freezing.

Recommended Posts

I'm really sorry for my terrible English. :)

Hi. I bought Arma 2 Combined Operations about 2 days ago. I installed both Arma 2 and OA. I started playing the game and I quickly realized that it's freezing constantly. In menu it looked like that: the game was smooth but after like 4 seconds the music was stopping and the game was freezing. When I tried to play campaign it was the same. Even when I changed the setting to very low it didn't help. My computer specs are:

Pentium® Dual-Core CPU E5400 2.70 Ghz

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 SE

4GB RAM

My monitor is LG E2242 21,5' 1920x1080. My friend PC is a lot worse than mine but it's running Arma 2 on high no problem. Thanks for any help.

I got it from www.keye.pl. It's and polish store with CD Keys. I'm buying there almost every game.

I will try reinstalling it.

The CD key works flawlessly, the only problem is the low framerate. My friend bought Arma 2 from the exact same website, at the exact same time and it's working. I have no idea why, but on his computer the game works alright even though it have lower specs. And once again: sorry for my poor English.

Edit:

I reinstalled Arma 2 and the problem occured once again. The framerate is great but it still freezes when I move. Example: I can see soldiers doing push-ups ang moving but when I start to walk the game freezes. Also when I start the game, when it says ,,Bohemia Interactive" I think the game freezes as well. The letters don't disappear until I minimalize the game to the desktop and open it again.

Definitely some sort of corrupt Arma 2, lol.

Reminds me of the horrible Arma 2OA demo - I had similar issues.

I wonder if it can be fault of my computer? Maybe the specs are too low? What do you think?

SSD only fix fps issues if you have a good processor and GPU, if your processor is less than 3.0ghz and your gpu is older than GTX 4 series and or radeion hd 7 series and up. If you dont have those 2 then SSD wont do anything. you see SSD only helps the CPU and GPU when they are being overloaded, but your HDD isn't bottle necking your processor is bottle necking the gpu. get a good processor and a good gpu, then get a ssd then it will be fast

You English is excellent.

Your PC, not so much.

ArmA hates dual core CPUs and your GPU is the entry level 560 which wasn't exactly a stunning performer when it launched a year ago.

Thanks a lot for your help. By the way, do you know any good but fairly cheap CPU which should run Arma?

Edit:

I heard that Intel Pentium G2120 is good for Arma 2 and very cheap, but it's dual core and as Terminal Boy said Arma hate those apparently.

its not that arma hates dual cores, most dual cores don't run over 3.0ghz, intel 3.0ghz would do ok, but a 3.0ghz AMD will not, if your on a budget, i suggest a i5 or a high end amd with 6 cores or more u can get i5/i7 fairly cheap if you look in the right places during holiday sales and weekend blowouts. Intel ALWAYS gives deals, and AMD has fast high end processor that are cheap but good speed.

The problem is that I live in Poland and everything is very expensive here so I think I won't be able to afford a very good processor. Anyways, thanks a lot for your help.

if you have 220 bucks you can get a bad fing ass processor from AMD more than enough for what you want. http://www.newegg.co...N82E16819113284

Just make sure the socket type are the same
