DayZ not working

Ok so i bought the game yesterday, spending 4 hours trying to get it working. First, it was giving me the bad version error, fixed that with dayz commander. Then, i was having an error when i try to join the server with dayz commander, it comes into the lobby for 2 seconds and then returns to arma menu. When i try to join using the dayz server list in game itself it tells me "bad version" thing, although i updated it thousands of times. Im really frustrated, as i bought this yesterday and still didnt get a chance to play it. There is no solution in other threads so please dont be a smartass posting me links to other threads like im a fucking moron. I know how to use search bar and know how to read. Is there any proper documentation about these errors?

Okay, first of all you didn't buy DayZ, it's a free mod.

Now, about your error...

Did you run both ARMA 2 and ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead right up to the main menu once each before installing DayZ?

And have you installed the latest ARMA 2 beta version with DayZ Commander as well as DayZ 1.7.7.1?

Finally are you sure that the server you are trying to join is running the same version of the mod as you? Some are still running 1.7.6, some 1.7.7, and some 1.7.7.1.

I bought arma just to play dayz.

It's not the problem with dayz, but with arma. Ok so i managed to get to version that the server is on (1.62.103419) by choosing the "Play with beta patch" option when running dayz from steam, but then there are no dayz servers in server list. I checked out expansions to make sure dayz is enabled, and it is. When i run it without choosing the "Play with beta patch" options im at version 1.62.95248 and i can see all the servers, but cant join because of bad version. Any idea on how to fix this?

Go to the main page of dayz commander, click the install/update tab located at the top right corner. When you open it you will see a section titled dayz version. Install the most recent version and return to the search filter in commander and refresh, should update your list of servers. If you wish to play a specific server then locate the server and check which version of dayz it is running. With the install/update section of commander you can both roll forward and backwards matching your version of dayz to the server you are intending to join.

or hit the refresh button in the browser window the beta version doesn't search automagically all of the time. the best way of playing the game is through dzc the arma browser is bugged at the best of times

I somehow managed to join some private server. God knows how... But i cant find any official servers, any idea?

Ok wee man, whats is the issues you are having, from start to finish. tell me the errors you get, the type of arma install you bought. Plus you are not a moron, arma 2 is a very difficult game to get your head around when it's your first time, i'll be more than happy to fix your issues.

theres sevreal ways we can do this, You post screen shots of all the items i tell you to screen shot and make adjustments as needed.

Download/install team viewer and let me do it for you.

download/install teamspeak and i can try and talk you through it. i have Skype, Mumble and Ventrilo as well.
