Whats up everybody?

I just found out about this game a few days ago and got everything downloaded last night.

But I'm a little unsure how to connect to official servers. I use dayzcommander to install everything. Is that how I also join games?

Please help a newb out.

Yes, find servers by clicking on the word servers. Find a server what suits your needs and double click it.

Hi Merek, welcome to the forums.

It sounds like you're good to go so try what Bwob said and you should be playing in no time.

Prepare to die. A lot.

Thanks guys! I've watched countless videos to find out more about the game and I was blown away.

As far as mods, should I install them all or what?

Most of the additional stuff you'll see on Commander is different maps etc. I wouldn't worry too much about those to start with but it's up to you. The classic "vanilla" DayZ is played on Chernarus which in many peoples opinions (including mine) is the best map to play DayZ on, it's also the largest. Some of the other maps are great though so you should check them out in the future.

Things like "Origins" are mods of the mod. So they've taken DayZ and added things, tweaked things, removed things and so on, some of those are really good too but honestly, to start with I would recommend just playing standard DayZ on Chernarus and learning the game that way then once you're comfortable with it (which will take a while) you can start messing around with the alternatives.

If you've never played Arma before I'd suggest booting up the game and playing some of the tutorials to get to grip with the basic movement and gun handling etc without the pressure of people trying to bury an axe in your face. It's a good way to learn the basics, you can even learn to fly a heli or try some sky-diving if you want, it's good fun.

Yea I was playing the tutorials lastnight to learn how to get around. The heli was hard as hell to maneuver.

on the plus side it`s far better to crash a heli on the arma tutorials then in dayz because you don`t want to crash such a rear commodity in to the the side of a hill.
