obtaining a vehicle.

Recommended Posts

Im looking to get a vehicle. Something small. urals are probably out of the question, would be happy with an ATV, elated with a car.

What tips do you have for gathering parts and finding a vehicle? Where do I look? What can I find?

Ive never even found a bicycle so far and I'm about a week or two into DayZ

You can always refer to Dayz DB for vanilla vehicle locations http://dayzdb.com/map. Keep in mind alot of private hives have additional spawn locations. For your parts you can got to the Cherno industrial area, Electro industrial area, Sol factory, Polana factory and the Berenzino industrial area these all have high percentages for looting vehicle parts.

Knowing spawn locations of vehicles and getting vehicles are two different things. I use DayZ DB all the time. Thank you for the parts recommendation, now any tips on getting a vehicle? when do I look for one, re-spawn rates (if any). Things that could help me but arent found on the wiki or DayZ DB

If your using the Dayz DB and having issues locating vehicles its time to start camp hunting. A large amount of players tend to set up camps along the edge of the debug plains. Loot up some hunting essentials and a water bottle then edge the map within 200 meters of the Debug starting on the west side from Zelengorsk then head north and around following it. Your bound to come across a stash of Hilux's. Once you get a vehicle take it to one of those main areas for parts. Since you want to make it last as long as possible head to polana or sol factory to loot back up parts and put them in your vehicle as there might be less opposition then the major cities.

I have put 40hrs into DayZ since buying it a couple of months ago and never saw a single vehicle. Then last night I found a dirt bike in Zelono, drove it into the woods to hide it and came across a lada fully repaired! I crashed the car about 2mins later though LOL :)

lol I just remember I saw that ATV when I was healing you the other night. It was probably broken anyways, but no biggie.

But finding vehicles will just take time and experience. They DayZ DB map isn't exactly accurate with vehicle spawns, so you need to look around the area, up to 100m or so. For instance, the bike spawn on Cap Golova is right next to the lighthouse, yet the db map pictures it about 50m North of the lighthouse, and the boat is pictures on land.

Just stick with it and you'll find one eventually. Best of luck!

I hope they find a solution for all this vehicle hoarding :-/ Bothers me since I started this game. Clans having a stockpile of vehicles parked in the debug and not a single vehicle on the map. There were servers where I could never find a vehicle-wreck and never saw a driving vehicle either. Its pretty difficult to prevent that, but it shouldnt be possible to park vehicles outside the normal map forever. If the vehicles would be parked inside the map at least there could be more fluctuation. I personally dont have time to store my vehicle somewhere at the end of the rainbow, but there are enough people that seam to have.

I would agree with others that searching for and stumbling upon road ready vehicles is probably your most time effective option. Head up north into the hills with plenty of food and water and try your luck. I only bother repairing vehicles when they're hidden near an industrial area with practically no chance of getting nicked or when I have my 4 man crew on to speed up the process.

In your quest, whatever method you choose, always try to carry around at least two tires in your rucksack. Not only will you need them to repair some of the misc. broken down vehicles you'll find, but smart survivors will often take a tire off their precious ride before logging off. Best of luck!

Do you play on a private hive? Most of the guys on my hive (hi steak!) post videos on YouTube. As well as being quite entertaining, I get quite a good idea of what vehicles have been recently destroyed and what spawns I should be checking.

I don't roll with a bag full of spares simply cos they take up so much room. When I find a vehicle I'll just head to the nearest cluster of industrial and grab what I need.

I actually found an atv and now i have a little bird. both excellent, but until you have ground mobility, steer clear of choppers, because if it isnt 100% repaired, itll leak gas.

I'd pretty much echo what these guys are saying.

In my many hundreds of hours playing DayZ I think I've only ever fixed up a vehicle at it's actual spawn point once or twice, TBH I've never even bothered using the DayZDB to learn the spawn points or bothered looking for them. If I decide I need/want a vehicle I just stock up on food and water and start hunting for camps. I find it more fun too with the added bonus that you'll usually find some tents on your travels with some sweet gear and you can't beat the rush of driving off in someone elses car.

I pretty much usually do what Steak suggested. Head into the woods/hills west of Zelengorsk and zig-zag your way north trying to cover as much ground as you can. You're pretty much guranteed to find something, it honestly works every time on almost every server. If by any chance you don't have any luck then head up to Pobeda Dam and the surrounding area. Looking up there can take a lot longer because there's more ground to cover and lot's of places to hide camps etc but there's ALWAYS a few camps and usually a vehicle or 2.

If you play on the same server frequently (which you should) start noting down coords of tents you find and so on. By sticking to the same server (if you play a lot) you can start to build up a really good picture of player habits and clan activity meaning that even as a lone wolf you can even the odds by using their camps to stock up when moving around. The key is just to take one or 2 things from each tent and only when you need it, that way they don't get suspicious and you can return there at a later date to check for new vehicles etc. Once you've got the locations of a few camps dotted around the map noted down you won't even need your own, you can be free as a bird and stop off at their tents whenever you need something.

Finding a car with metagame information (using the DB) is MUCH more rewarding, although it does require a lot of dumb luck.

There's an almost 100% chance of finding a Ural behind the International Hotel in Chernogorsk for me. I've never been shot grabbing it, or shot escaping with it.

A favorite place of mine to get a ride when I was new to the game was Altar 081 - 059 (coordinates). A UAZ spawns there with DMR ammo, or used to.

Also try:

- Myshkino 021 - 080 (pickup truck)

- Msta 112 - 099 (pickup truck)

- Tulga 128 - 108 (skoda sedan)

- Gorka 096 - 063 (sedan and tractor)

Good Luck ...
