What's up with the data on the title page?

Recommended Posts

So, I just found this page two days ago I think it was and was very interested by the statistics on the front page. Made it seem like a massive community. However, I have noticed the "zombie deaths" among other statistics haven't budged at all however the average life expetancy has gone up from 1 hour and 4 minutes to 1 hour and 9 minutes today.

Are these updated anymore? Are only certain parts updated? And if neither, why?

Thanks.

I'd like to know where they get them from in the first place.

Public hive database...

Some are wrong though and have been for a while now, 2,147,483,647 is the max value for a 32-bit INT, so that's why that one has been the same for months. They need to change it in the database to BIGINT or VARCHAR or something else but it doesn't really matter, they have other things they are focussing on.

Ah. Just seemed like such a realistic number. I would expect the max of some sort of data to be "9999" or so. :P

So does someone sift through lines of code to look up stats, or is it just an easily presented number listed somewhere for them that they need to apply to the website?

It's just a number in the database that is displayed, there are plenty of free scripts available so admins can do the same with their own private hive servers providing they have database access.
