Devs; Allow me to applaud you.

This is the DayZ I bought ARMA 2 for early last year. For once, I'm dying to the elements and not just bandits. The infection is probably the best addition yet.

Antibiotics are rare, and I've died several times due to not finding meds, which I would presume is how it would really be.

Knowing that the standalone has more disease and chances to die naturally or indirectly to zombies, makes me excited.

The loot system is the best I've seen to date. High end military weapons are pretty rare. Barracks, tents, hangers have been throttled back and most of the time I find cans or ammo. I love it. Additonal loot nodes in places most people ignore means you need to explore a bit more.

I notice most of the posts are complaints they we're no longer tripping over AK's and DMR's at heli crashes or tents anymore, this is a post to let you guys know that some of us love that the difficulty has been amped up and to not succumb to the those who aren't getting their way.

If this is a glimpse of standalone, man, it can't come soon enough.

-Billy.

Your opinion is refreshing, and I do agree.

Sadly, the flaws of the mod are even more noticeable now - the zombies are more dangerous, and terrible pathing really emphasizes that. Harder loot spawn emphasizes how all loot is spawned in batches instead of how it is spawned everywhere in the Standalone(i.e. if the hospital was empty in Berezino, you would find almost no medical supplies in 5 mile radius.) The Infection really shows how the engine is limited while there could be MANY other ways of making zombies more dangerous in the Standalone.

Overall - yes, this patch is truly great. It made the zombies VERY difficult without being unfair. It improved on the survival aspect by reducing loot chance. It fixed a couple of annoying bugs too and made tents and ammo clips really easy to use.

But, the weaknesses of the mod are as clear as ever. Cannot wait for the Standalone.

Definitely agree about the pathfinding. The zigzag running makes it difficult to hit them, which means you basically need to stop to do so.

I found a box of anti-biotics!

I remember this feeling when I first installed the mod. This is awesome!
