DayZ's browsing and tools are absolutely horrendous.

I just got the game about five hours ago now.

I can't get into ANY servers because of the following.

- "Bad version"

- "C:\blah\blah\blah will not let you play with these keys so do something"

- Gets stuck on server's loading screen where they have their poster and the loading bar at the bottom just stops

- CONSTANTLY NOT RESPONDING.

I have DayZCommander. Does nothing for me.

I have ArmA 2, OA, and OA beta, and obviously DayZ.

Specs will not matter in this because every other game on my computer works perfectly fine - even ArmA 2.

My download speed is 50+ MB/s.

I know it sounds kind of harsh, but newbies like me shouldn't have to deal with all of this to play.

Before anyone asks, I'd also like to state I'm running DayZ 1.7.7

1. Run both ArmA 2 and OA once to complete installation.

2. Download DayZCommander from http://www.dayzcommander.com

3. Run DayZCommander and click the "install/update" button from the top menu.

4. Click "Install" next to ArmA 2 (103718). Wait for the download and install to complete.

5. Click "Install" next to DayZ. Wait for the download and install to complete.

7. Filter 'DayZ only' and 'hide wrong versions' from the dropdown box on the left and join a server, if you want to play other mods/maps you will need to install them separately via the install/update menu.

I'd try that, then post back any error messages exactly as they are written (or screenshot them)

That last part is the only part I didn't do, and this was my filter:

-DayZ Only

-Hide wrong mod version

-Hide wrong ArmA 2 version

-Hide empty

-Hide full

Bitching doesn't fix the game. Have you tried Google? Have you tried an anger management class? Everyone has problems, okay? So calm your tits. Have you updated your OA Beta? Are you even running the Beta patch? ...

ArmA opens when I join a server, but every time I just get one of the damn errors. I don't know how to approach this at all, and also, I DID just buy the game five hours ago, so maybe I'm missing something.

Hahaha... and how do I update my OA beta? Is that in the DayZCommander? And what is the beta patch?

Welcome to the PC gaming world and more specifically, trying to play a mod for a game with a poorly written engine.

There are TONS of step by step guides and videos on the net on how to run DayZ which in my opinion would suit you best.

Coming here and venting your teenage angst and self entitlement is not going to get you any further.

And also, just something else to get off my sleeve

When I try to play the singleplayer mod, I get the error "you cannot play/edit this file due to downloadable content..." or something like that, then a bunch of file names and then directories.

But the most common and annoying error is the one that says "Bad version," while meanwhile in the title of the server or at the bottom it shows my current version (1.7.7)

In DayZCommander, under settings check both the steam options are ticked.

Up and runing in 4 easy steps =)

Arma2OA needs to be version 1.62 and then ran after the patch.

Then you need the beta patch.

install @DayZ 1.7.7 into Arma2OA directory

I would recommend to install BattlEye client.dll into the Exopansion directory.

Change your location to were its installed on your pc and use this to make a shortcut.

"C:\yourlocation\Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" "-mod=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion;@DayZ;" -nosplash -world=empty
