hiush 3 Posted July 2, 2013 (edited) Here are some tips that i caught over my play time in dayz:1. Remain calm battles are won and lost because of who panicked first, this is for a simple reason if you get nervous you can't shoot straight and will be killed by the other guy.2. Cover>concealment a bush might be fine if you are hiding, but you will be most likely shoot since most people will spam until you get killed, this is especially true in woodland battles where you should be taking cover behind trees not hiding in bushes.3. In the day look for the smoke from the enemy shots, in the night look for the muzzle flash. Learn this skill as fast as you can it saved my life countless times in PVP4. Stay alert for the bullet impacts or whizzles, in the heat of battle is easy to not pay attention to this but they basically means: "you are getting shot at move or duck".5. Look around often to avoid enemies flanking you, and listen for footsteps, awareness saves lifes in combat.6. Aim for the torso, it's the center of mass and is a big target and a fell shots there will drop anybody.7. Move fast and from cover to cover and for your life sake don't do heroic field sprints they don't work.8. Don't hesitate in pulling the trigger (or clicking the mouse) because they won't. (it seems a obvious point for bandits but many survivors hesitate).9. Only use full auto or bursts in CQC semi will probably be enought in 95% of the cases.10. Stay standing when mobility is priority (CQC per example), go kneeling when you have a bit of time to line a shoot or to duck in chest high walls and only go prone when you: A. need to line a long range shot B. shit just hit the fan and you only have minimal cover.11. Communicate with your mates, even if you don't use military terms like "contact 6 o'clock" it's good to say " shit more guys on the left" and "I'm getting shot at can you help?", if your teammates are worth their beans they can put the info in good use if not well tough luck.12. And last DAYZ PVP is normally between small groups and tend to be short and swift, also they tend to be up close since most of them happen when 2 elements bump into each other, nothing like the middle ranged battles between two armies in regular arma where both sides are expecting fighting and are equipped for that, so considering that you have more to lose in dayz your priority should be staing alive rather that killing all the baddies. Dagwood 680 Posted July 4, 2013 If your fairly impatient when in bandit mode as I am, use something juicy as bait (like a ural or UAZ) in a fairly well travelled area. Where you choose to set your ambush depends on who you are looking to kill. After you've found your ambush location, blow out a tire on the bait car. This ensures that someone won't be able to pull your bait off the hook. Then position yourself where you feel confident that you can land shots with the weapon(s) you intend to use.Vehicles are great for making players stand still long enough to land that one shot kill. This baiting tactic has been successful for me in the past when operating alone, but having at least one other person with you can help insure that your target doesn't investigate and/or repair the vehicle in a blindspot. khaenz 93 Posted July 6, 2013 (edited) Tips for a new bandit:-Be careful and pick targets. Don't kill people unless you really want/need their items.-Do not engage groups unless you have a very big advantage. If they outnumber you and/or have better gear, let them pass, or it will end with your death and maybe some of the group members death, which is a minus for both parties.-Try to make at least one or two friends, so that they can give you a bloodbag, carry more loot and help you fight against groups. If you don't have any, it's easy to become friends with someone who is unarmed on the beach. These people might kill you later, if they don't find you useful anymore or have friends of their own, so you have to be very careful around people you don't completely know.Once you have become an experienced bandit, you'll get different techniques for getting loot from people.-You should be good enough now to hold up people properly. If you see someone who is completely unaware, alone and you are close, rob him. Tell him to drop all his stuff on the ground, and not to face you. If he does, shoot him.Take what you need from the pile and leave the rest for him. Leaving him alive and with gear allows him to go and get more loot, so that you may rob him again later, or kill him and loot him if its too hard. This way you'll leave more loot for fellow bandits, and for yourself, and you won't be a complete asshole.-When you are at this stage I don't recommend using snipers mainly, as looting is going to be a bit more dangerous if you do. Always carry an assault rifle or shotgun, and keep a Designated Marksman Rifle/Sniper as a secondary, used only when you're providing overwatch or for getting an advantage in combat. Fighting close-up is much more fun, and requires much more skill, and it's much more satisfying to get an epic victory rather than shooting some poor rabbit who did not even know where you were.
