famishedmammal 3 Posted June 12, 2013 (edited) Just a comment on what Dean is contemplating, in a DayZ E3 interview I saw ...The idea that you 'sit down' and are vulnerable after logging out (so you must find a safe location to hide in) is a great idea in theory, but you should also consider that this is essentially just a game and that people have other things to do (ie. have to leave immediately for dinner, girlfriend wants the D, drunk dad falls down the stairs, etc), and that they will often have to leave the game right away without being able to find a "safe location", and that this feature may spoil the game for a lot of people Edited June 12, 2013 by famishedmammal

Statik (DayZ) 2695 Posted June 12, 2013 Wait, so what you're suggesting is, when you log out, your player sits there almost AFK?No. Thank. You.That means, on a public hive, you would have your player sitting in that tree, defenseless, on TONS of servers. This idea is just utterly redonculious. TheDesigner 1197 Posted June 12, 2013 (edited) It would be better if you had to sit down to log out, but you wouldn't stay there. I hope Rocket didnt really suggest having that and you just misinterpreted him. If he did, popular servers would just have sitting people everywhere and bandits would just stroll around capping these people and Lol about it.Wait, so what you're suggesting is, when you log out, your player sits there almost AFK?No. Thank. Felixthefriendlycat 92 Posted June 12, 2013 (edited) They should make your character start crying when you log out ( in combat) . That would reflect the cowardliness Edited June 12, 2013 by Felixthefriendlycat
SmashT 10907 Posted June 12, 2013 (edited) My understanding is you could leave the game at any time but your character would remain in-game for 30 seconds or so afterwards. It wouldn't necessarily mean you actually have to remain in-game waiting to leave (like the mod), otherwise people just combat log every time they get mobbed by zombies or shot at by other players. I think it's pretty obvious he didn't mean they would sit there indefinitely because that would be stupid. Edited June 12, 2013 by SmashT
methr1k2dop3 323 Posted June 12, 2013 (edited) if anyone has played World of Warcraft i think there logout system is good.take 30 secs for your character to disappear from the game. it will kill the whole combat logging thing.i hope they have some sorta system like this.sucks if your CPU freezes or your network craps out you will be exposed.but i think it will be worth it.**edit: Sitting down would be the animation for people trying to log out, having a Exit Now button would close Dayz but your character would remain in game for duration.
