If the devs gave a shit they would not have included code in the patch that the KNEW would not work properly.

Not backing down on something is not the same as being unreasonable. Maybe I have not heard anything to change my mind? All I have heard is STFU or GTFO from fanboys instead of having someone who actually knows half a shit about the subject give me a valid reason for the inclusion of this code.

I will not be debating inclusion of bad code with people who are obviously ignorant regarding coding at a commercial release level. I don't try teaching monkeys physics either.

Hello there

@Mike I think it's more your attitude that is winding folk up. You are coming across quite smug in your faith in your own abilities.

A simple search of the forums would show you who is involved in the mod and its upkeep, if you have a burning question that's only answerable by them you might try to PM one of the mods dev's/assistants.

Again, I'd appreciate you discussing this in a reasonable and orderly manner, but so far you continue to throw out false accusations that the Dev's don't give a ****, and that the community is ignorant. Any of this not making sense to you Mike? Please, read through my post again instead of repeating yourself.

The Dev's clearly did not know this wouldn't work, otherwise they wouldn't of included it .. Seems logical right?

Know one has told you to GTFO or STFU, more that people reply to yourself in a reasonable manner, then you continue to insult them because you're unwilling to accept anything for what it is. Theres a valid reason for this code being included, is that it needs to be tested. You and many of us are here to help contribute to the SA, right now your feedback (If you can even call it that...) is clearly not helping.

If YOU have the solution, or even the 'correct' coding, please go ahead, post it right here.. Oh wait? We're not worthy right? I can also see that every post you have made on this forum has been negative and non-contributing.

Go figure...

I see lots of hate on the new patch and because no one ever says why they hate it they all look like they are overacting.

First of all what does it say when you download dayz?

Download ALPHA!!

You did not pay for this game and they are doing open testing for the standalone with this mod,it has always been like that.

Just try hold off playing the game and wait for them to fix it.

And if you think this update is bad, over at warz all of there patches break the game by ruining fps and loot spawns.

So if you have a point about why the patch is so bad let me know,if not then just wait it out.

*I see lots of hate on the new patch and because no one ever says why they hate it they all look like they are overacting*, wrong, i myself and lots of other people have clearly stated why we dislike this patch

I will repeat myself for both you and anyone else. If you have an issue with the patch or think you have a solution, then please, post it in the suggestions in a more contributing manner without simply raging about it. Thats not helpful.

I didn't think it would be necessary to point out.. but okay...

If the devs gave a shit they would not have included code in the patch that the KNEW would not work properly.

I was pointing out why this patch is bad to someone who thought otherwise, not find out why the devs don't give a shit and release poor code. The reason for THAT is pretty obvious to me.

You are coming across quite smug in your faith in your own abilities.

I have never released code that I knew would not work. Not wanting to be associated with a team that does so is not smugness, that is me being a professional. Not my fault people can't tell the difference.

And a follow on: if they didn't know it wouldn't work... did they not TEST it? You know, like professionals do it?

The smugness was in other posts, like your "billable rate" etc etc, I'm not going to point them all out.

I doubt the devs released something they knew was broken for teh lulz.

It's an unpaid community project. It's always going to be less than perfect. Why not offer to donate your time and skills to QA'ing the mod?

Either they knew it would not work and released it anyway, or they did not bother to test it at all. Both of those reasons are sufficient for me to avoid any sort of association with their work. Just that simple.

I have also noted that the only people defending this issue are fanboys, where are these devs? Why don't they respond? Do they not have an explanation? Smells like not giving a shit to me...

And the fix is not rocket science: remove the code until you figure out how to accurately and consistently determine a player's velocity in real-time. Christ, I do not believe I actually had to say it...

As stated why not PM direct? These guys are not at your beck and call. Perhaps they live in a different timezone.

Lastly leaks and bugs often slip through, ask any AAA software house.

I think you're trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.

How will raging about it help?

Some dev should make a post say that they are working on it to calm everybody down and then we just have to wait.

What do you need response to. It was one of the dev's who informed you to start with. Some how this managed to slip by during mist of the panic to get the dam patch out to you guys.

It will be corrected.

We have already told you this tackle system will change im not happy with it.

Another reason not to want to be associated with the dev team. Poor expectation management and rushed patching.

It is better to release half a patch than a half-assed patch.

I see this thread going nowhere but having the same thing repeated over and over again. As I have said myself, If you think you can make it better, then go about your professionalism and help. If not, then continuing post here, is not going to help you, but more point you in the wrong direction.

You have very poor comprehension, don't you mate. I do not associate myself with the kind of work the dev team releases. If you know half a shit about coding for a living you would understand this. Why are you interrupting a conversion between people who actually know what they are talking about?

Having been in the software industry for more than 25 years (oh yes I am older than the average teenager fan-boy) covering more or less all the possible roles (from Software Engineer to R&D Head) and having developed myself for fun a few open-source/freeware utilities, mostly under GPL, I would like to shed some light about freeware vs. payware:

Freeware costs no money, but that does not automatically mean un-tested, buggy, undocumented and poorly running code. The fact that ones does not pay for it does not imply quality has to be low. It is up to whoever develops it to set his/her own standards. Simple as that. So arguments like "It is free, so do not complain about poor quality" or "It is an Alpha, what do you expect?" do not hold water. You can decide to develop a lot of buggy features or a few well-working ones, the choice is yours (*especially* in the freeware world where you have no boss to report to, so you have really no excuses for delivering crap because nobody forced you to do it, whereas in the payware world you may well be forced to release untested garbage due to top management decisions).

Payware costs money, but that does not mean automatically fully tested, well-designed and optimized code. Of course, companies having a track record to deliver crap have the tendency to disappear from the market, which is good. The Gothic franchise (an underdog with a well-established niche similar to dayz from a certain point of view) started wonderfully well and it went down the drain with Gothic III only partially resurrected by a community made patch. The Elders Scroll franchise instead keeps growing and each game is better than the previous one. There are bugs but those are ironed out as time goes by. They do not deliver "Alphas" or "Betas" or "Gammas" or else ...

Last but not least, a classic example of payware vs. freeware: for FSX you can find thousands of aircraft models, freeware and payware and despite the fact freeware are free (doh!) there are many freeware models with a far better quality, documentation and realism factor compared to payware ones.

You have an incredible lack of respect for people don't you mate? I do not associate myself with either good or bad work, if it is not my work, or I have not contributed to it, I have no need to be a part of it. I can tell you now nearly everyone on these forums has helped contributed to DayZ in many positive ways. They have also reported bugs, or contributed with their ideas and suggestions in a reasonable manner, and also in the correct sections (i.e Suggestions).

I'm not going to sit here and act like I know stuff about coding, because I don't, I am willing to be honest. I am also willing to discuss these issues, or even your 'issues' in a much more non-insulting, non-ignorant manner. You come back with the same thing every time. You blame the Dev's for not caring, and you have labelled everyone here ignorant and fanboys. I am not interrupting any conversation by the way, this a forum for the public. If you want a conversation, feel free to PM me or anyone else here with your concerns, were you can not be interrupted. I will continue to express my opinions with good intent.

You have made yourself clear as hell now move on.

Can we expect cleaner patching from now on? Or will I be bitching about amateur code again in the next patch? You know, the stuff that looks like its written by a child and tested by a monkey...?

Maybe the 'verbal abuse' will drive the point home.

Edit: fixed epic spelling fail

Again, please read back through my post. The part that specifies this is a public forum open for any discussion, and that if you wish to inludge in such 'conversations' then you can PM anyone and that will remain private.

Or you can continue to sidestep everything I have said thus far? So now who is being ignorant?
