Need Help (Maps, Versions, Symbols)

I just recently started playing DayZ. I'm tired of the same old map, I want to play on the newest maps. I don't know how or where to get them. I bought Combined Operations from Steam, installed them. Installed the OA Beta. Then installed Day Z mod(from steam).

I'm on version 1.6. I don't know how to update it, or if that is the current update. I see some servers on higher numbers, such as 1.7.

And what does the symbols on the server mean? I've seen a green dot, red dot, and a yellow dot with a question mark.

Hey bro. Day-Z is one of the more confusing things to start up for the first time, but there's a few launchers out there that will help you out. Most people use the Day-Z commander. From there you can filter your search results, add favorite servers, download different Day-Z mods as well as update them. You can get the launcher from here http://www.dayzcommander.com/

I gave up trying to launch Day-Z from steam or the actual program, and was relieved to find something like this.

Just follow this mate, dont get help from anyone just learn yourself. Its pretty much fool proof! I started using it the day i downloaded Dayz and I never had a problem leanring!
