Its going to be like Minecraft. Release it in Alpha and the people from Indev(mod) will buy it but it won't pick up the craze until beta then the CoD kiddies will arrive 2 months after the release while sales are booming.

Btw I was in MC Alpha, it wasn't as cool as the end product because it is an Alpha.

This is only the start of the end.

Yes at the moment, we were alright to go on Friday when it was brought to us but now the people needed to push an update to steam are at E3 and in Prague. So trying to do that is going to be slightly more complex especially with the us being busy from 9.30am till 9pm LA time.

There isn't really much we have to say till I know exactly what we can do about it. Again we were perfectly ready last thursday/friday.

Jan isn't here at the moment I can't make the build public on steam. Only Jan can and I don't know his process for that whether he can do it remote, he has to e-mail valve. I don't know, so I'm going to have to speak to him.

You have a new COD coming in November, so I think it's unlikely they will want to release around that, as it could hurt sales of the standalone.

Eh, I don't know. How much do DayZ and CoD's demographics overlap? Especially with console competition stripped out if only the PC version is out around that time or indeed, the console versions never come to exist. DayZ is also a very slow and methodical game relative to CoD's atmosphere of immediate gratuity.

Basically I don't really see a massive number of people holding the two up against one another and having to make a decision on only the one of them.

From this video I'd say it's doing pretty well so far.
