LeeDarylG 0 Posted June 7, 2013 Hi, im new here so i'll make this short, I heard about there being a standalone version of DayZ coming soon and I was wondering if this was just a version of DayZ that you could buy without the need of ArmA 2 but was essentially the same game, being that you can connect to ArmA 2 DayZ servers with the standalone version or will I need to buy the Standalone version to play with people in the standalone version. Ive also seen the pricing structure but dont fully understand it, so if we buy when it is released then we get it cheaper and do we get the updates for free or will we need to pay more as the updates progress until we actually pay the full retail amount.Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere but i couldn't find anything that helped me understand it right. Mos1ey 6301 Posted June 7, 2013 The standalone is a new game bringing with it a lot of changes. You won't be able to connect to it's servers through the mod. You can find loads of info on what's new here...http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/Basically, you pay once and then you own the game and get all future updates for free as they're released. It will be released in alpha relatively cheaply and then the price will increase as it moves in to beta and the final release.
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted June 7, 2013 (edited) The SA will be a game in it's own right. You will purchase it once and that is it, there will be no charges for updates etc and no microtransactions. If you buy it early whilst it's still in development (alpha/beta) then it will be cheaper at that time and you will only pay the once.It won't be compatible with the mod in any way as they are two separate things so you will only be playing with people who also own the standalone. Click the devblog link in my sig if you want to know more about the progress of the game as they're developing it.Ninja'd by mZLY.... AGAIN. TheDuriel 26 Posted June 7, 2013 (edited) the standalone will actualy require a less powerfull pc Edited June 7, 2013 by TheDuriel
ZombieNation2012 6 Posted June 7, 2013 the standalone will actualy require a less powerfull pcreally? I saw no system specs anywhere yet. Kindly post a link to where you found this info? I have a few friends who will love to read it, as they feared they would not be able to play, as the dayz runs like a dog on there systems. Thanks.
Death_Dealer 3155 Posted June 7, 2013 Rocket stated the standalone should run much smoother than the mod.He also said, whatever FPS you get in ArmA 2 now (not with DayZ), is about what you should expect with the standalone. No sources cause I can't be bothered but I'm pretty sure this is what was stated.

OrLoK 16182 Posted June 8, 2013 Hello thereFYI there's no release date and there's no definitive spec sheet. It may run smoother than A2/it may not. The guestimates are that it will run similarly to A2/dayz for many people.Let's wait and see:)RgdsLoK
