Death_Dealer 3155 Posted June 5, 2013 I highly suggest getting a desktop PC over a laptop. Laptops can be very overpriced for what you get, and tend to overheat when gaming. Most laptops also have the hardware integrated into the motherboard, meaning you cannot upgrade things like your GPU in the future, which you are going to want to do. Mos1ey 6301 Posted June 5, 2013 What speed is the CPU without the boost? If it's under 3Ghz then you'll struggle.
fluxley 2228 Posted June 5, 2013 You might be better off getting a decent i5 instead of the i7 as i read many times the i7 wont give you many gains when it comes to gaming, any money left over could then be put towards your GPU or even an ssd

Feral (DayZ) 622 Posted June 5, 2013 (edited) I played dayz on a laptop for months with no problem at all, still do sometimes. Always get 25+ fps and sometimes up to 40 with reasonable settings in 1080p, that's with a lesser processor and a 660m. If you opt for a laptop then definitely invest in a good cooling stand and get the largest chassis/screen you can, bigger the better for use and for cooling, I'd get another 8GB of RAM too. Now I use a desktop when at home and it is far better in every way except for portability of course, which is where a laptop wins hands down. edit - you mention screen capture software, i was playing with fraps on the lappy the other day, I got around 15 - 20fps while recording, also having a small hardrive is an issue. With your specs though i'd expect better results, you would need to think about an extra external hard drive though. KateUpton 6 Posted June 5, 2013 To answer your question, most likely not. Get a desktop computer, not a laptop.
