Forklift and moveable shipping containers

Recommended Posts

Just a thought - being able to move shipping containers around with a forklift to build good sized enclosures. No idea about implementation, or whether there are forklifts already in arma 2. Be interesting from the perspective of those who are into fort building, and not getting enough juice out of razor wire and sandbags. But hey, what do you all think?

It would be a fun idea to see someone build a container fort on the seafront of Chernogorsk but I can see some problems with letting people build things of that size, such as players getting stuck inside them when they log in because someone moved a row of containers where someone logged out.

Yep agree - could be all kinds of probs but might be fun to try out... If too buggy could be reverted....

Adding a forklift to the game could be beneficial from several standpoints. Im not a dev so I dont know how feasible implementing it would be but the idea is to be able to move things like containers or even rusted out cars or pallets of trash to construct a base. If you added just a few forklifts to the map they could be coveted by teams trying to build a base. It would be fun to have something other than a chopper to battle over. Maybe try and throw in a tow truck or flat bed truck as well to be able to move some broken down cars etc to your base.

Go easy on me I havent had my coffee yet.

to avoid stuff like that, player spawns will be changed a little, and they are implementing in SA a mechanic to build bases underground. this idea could help make the roof more sustainable, since if we have a loo large tunel it can fall without anything to hold it, just like mines

Ladders would be a must for forts and also enter able caravans would be great because they could go anywhere and provide a stove if you put fuel from a jerry can in the caravan and trailers to store push bikes and supply's that connects to the back of a car if you get close enough same goes for putting bikes near enough to put them inside but the downside could be a 20% or so decrease in fuel economy and a 50% odd decrease in speed and a slight decrease in handling
