Lootable when unconscious and VoiP

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, couple of simple suggestions!

Firstly,

I have always wondered why you could not loot somebody when they are unconscious? Now, IRL, you could. If you knocked somebody out, you could go through their pockets or take their gun off them. It is all very possible. Just have it kick you out of looting as soon as they regain consciousness. Secondly to the point, I believe this may limit some of the 'shoot on sight' mentality. As you could just knock a player out, take what you want and leave him to live still. With all these new melee weapons and the new health systems with how conscious you are and such, it would be a fitting feature to be able to KO people and take their gear without killing them (Imagine running up with a pipe *BAM* take beans and flee). Also allows for good RP disarm situations where you can lecture a bandit, or humiliate them, etc, etc.

Second is not really an idea as such, but a talking point. The VoiP in the game. With the radios being introduced, most will point out it is heavily negated by TS3 and skype, etc. Im just wondering (I am no programmer or anything of the sort lol) but, if you are chatting away into your mic while on skype, could dayz sort of passively detect long strings of conversation and perhaps do something to make you want to use in game comms? Say, locks direct chat on so anything you say on skype is heard in direct, or something. Controversial I know! As you do not want to take the fun team based VIDEOGAME aspect out, just a thought is all. I like the idea of in game comms in a way. Would create a more vibrant Chernaurus in a way. You would hear so much too haha

Those are my suggestions, hope they are not old news or already being implemented :D What do you guys think?

agree with the first part but what if you are doing live commentary?

First idea is nice, although it has been mentioned a lot of times already. I still like the idea of taking someones gun while they are unconscious :)

Second idea is a bit weird maybe. Imagine meeting some guy somewhere and you hear 5 people talking at once. This would make me flee immediately because of the fear of snipers.

The first idea has been brought up before, utilize search.

He second has as well I believe, and there are so many things that would just make it stupid, and in the long run, would just be a stupid hassle.

There would be alot of survivors walking around talking into their radios...just imagine having someone near you talking on a cell phone. Now put that person in Cherno chattering over direct to himself. Funny but ultimately annoying.

It's a shame there isn't a way to get people to use the VOIP. Maybe teamspeak integration like the ACRE mod has would help. I don't know about most people, but my microphone has a switch so I can turn it off if I really need to, but I also can't talk on skype while it's off.

The cool thing about messing with the inventory of someone unconsious is not what u can take, but what u can put, (grenade in one pocket, the pin up a tree :P )

Yeah the second idea as mentioned is more of a talking point. Though I understand how annoying it would be to hear all these people talking on skype or any other background noise, it would make people be quiet in a way. As they are near guaranteed to be heard and killed if they don't be quiet. Once again adding to the immersion in that sense. As people would be in quiet rooms, playing and listening intently. But, there are many polar opposites I can see. People whose computers are in communal areas (hear someone doing the dishes in the background, or a baby crying), live streaming/recording, and the fact people will always find a way around it. I just think it would be amazing if the in game comms were utilized to max potential!

The thing is that Rocket is putting all this work into what sounds like a great communications system for the Standalone, but I feel like nobody is even going to use it.

There will definitely be servers, where folks know eachother well and have the same appreciation for the game, who use the new communication system fully.

There are always communities of people who take certain aspects more seriously than others.

I think the main point is giving folks the opportunities.

Rocket seems to have a good handle on this. It's not about forcing anyone's hand, but letting them choose.

It is a sandbox, after all.
