How exactly can you get banned by getting your CD key stolen? I just wanna know how that even works.

You don't get banned because your CD key was stolen, you get your DC key stolen, then the person using it hacks on official servers and gets banned, that simple.

Hi. I was banned for some reason which I don't know because I wasn't playing when I was banned because my brothers also play DayZ on my computer. Does anyone know why I was banned? I'm not sure what it was. I just want to get unbanned so that I can play again.

You download something dodgy thinking it's an FPS booster, a map, a hack etc. It then turns out it's none of the above, it's a keystealer/malware. You run the Exe. it then steals your key and replaces it with a banned key. You try to log into a server, you find out you're key is banned.

The golden rule is only to download files from trusted sources. This can happen with any game, it's not unique to DayZ

Edit - In your case you said earlier you have Brothers that you allow to use your PC. Either this is bollocks and you know that or they have been up to no good and you need to go and have a chat with them. Either way, your key is your responsibility to keep safe.

But then how would we play Dayz ? It's a 3rd party mod that is not included with the game.

Playwithsix and Dayzcommander are also 3rd party.

Common sense is the best solution and if in doubt ask here, plenty people willing to help and answer questions :)
