Buying ARMA 2 for DayZ

I'm going to give this game a chance but I'd like to know if you can only get the game by buying it online and downloading it or if they sell hard copies. And what is the Correct site to buy ARMA 2 and DayZ mod, I've seen several sites but I know some must be rip offs.

You can buy hard copies of ARMA 2 but you will still need to download the relevant patches and of course DayZ mod.

The DayZ mod is entirely free. There's no fees of any kind.

Although you DO need to buy ARMA 2(or download ARMA 2: Free from Bohemia Interactive's website) as well as ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead before downloading/installing DayZ.

The DayZ Standalone has been in the works for quite a while now, though, and the closed Alpha is going to be re-evaluated in June, which means that DayZ will become its own independent game that you can buy from Steam. (The mod will remain free, but won't be the same as the Standalone because of some major differences in the engine.)

Don't buy Arma 2 for DayZ. The Standalone is coming out and next month and it would be much more worth it to wait until then. Trust me.

It isn't coming out next month. The dev team are 'reviewing the situation' next month.

I'd advise going through Steam.

Also, make sure you really give the game a chance and learn as much as you can about it. I was very disappointed when I bought Arma 2 for DayZ a few weeks ago. I thought I'd wasted my money, but I stuck with it and now I love it.
