(Strip)search and more on PvP interaction

Recommended Posts

Hey there guys :)

After watching all videos of the pre-alpha release of DayZ, as well as experiences with the mod, I think there are some small additions that should be made. These two I belive would be particularly important:

Ability to Search other Survivors

No, not there dead corpses. As you all know, in the mod, you have the ability to search peoples backpacks and exchange stuff in that way. However, as allready shown in videos of the SA, there are now extra inventory slots/pockets in clothing items and the like, where a player may be able to hide gear. This is where I would like to have the ability to look at someones entire inventory, while they are still alive.

For this system to work however, we need an other small feature. This would be the ability to surrender...

The Surrender option

Basically, after a certain keypress, you stand on the spot, with your hands raised to your head/resting on your head, similar to this:

Only after a survivor has surrendered will his whole inventory be searchable. Thus, we are preventing any problems arising from people being able to access your gear, as it can only be done when you are actively surrendering.

I personally belive these two mechanics would make gameplay much more interesting, as well as reduce the kill on sight mentality a bit.

What do you guys think?

I think u can access all inventory sub-portions, 1at a time, which would represent the time that it takes to search a prisoner. As for a surrender button, it could be implemented as an emote without restricting your options... we are NOT men of honour and if I were to get the opportunity I would backstab my captor. Handcuffs and other such kinky gadgets all wellcome though.
