Zombies distracted by animals?

Lets say you are running for your life from zombies in an open area.

you pass a cow , or goat or whatever ... should some of those zombies break from the pack and feast on said animal?

thoughts ?

Something like this would be very good for losing zombies, I'd like to see something like this implemented. How would the zombies recognize the cow though?
