kzrts 3 Posted April 25, 2012 Hey, I really love this mod and I think this needs JSRS support or another sound gestion, that would be really neat to hear gunshot far away loud and clear, and not little "puff" "puff" even if you're just 500m away, that would also help player locate sound source and percept if he's making lot of noise, bringing zombies over.Yep, entering chernogarsk heading lost gunshots in the city would be thrilling, I really think that would add a whole new dimension to the realism and survival aswell as roleplay aspect of the mod. plsgo 1 Posted April 25, 2012 Maybe the guy who made JSRS would consent to the devs creating a JSRS lite for their installation package.
gobbo (DayZ) 6 Posted April 25, 2012 At the moment, we have more important issues to look at than the right sound for the mod.
Sam Maunder 40 Posted April 25, 2012 Right now soundmods have caused issues with ingame sound. Our FR server decided at one point to run the acesoundmod and it caused us 4 hours of greif because everything started to go wrong. In Alpha we're still working on the foundations of the mod and a lot of the work we do you don't really see directly (Unless it breaks something!)
col.nikolai 0 Posted April 25, 2012 I have been using JSRS since its first release. Its the only sound modification that creates a realistic sound environment in Arma2. I believe Dayz would benefit from it greatly. However I would rather have the mod more complete then have this operational.

abysmal 2 Posted April 26, 2012 Locating other players through the sound of gunshots gives a whole new level of significance to the aural cues in the game, and I think it would be a shame to forgo using the existing improvements out there when adding 3d sound could so greatly bolster the depth of the gameplay and realism. tpenn 9 Posted April 26, 2012 The current sound system is a huge detriment to the game atm, it doesn't matter if an infected or player or gunshot is 50 metres away or 5 metres away they all sound right next to you in your ear, and everything beyond 100 metres is multiplexed up into the "sounds like its coming from 1k out" range. There are no finer gradients to sound with the default arma sound engine.+1 to better sound being 2nd priority at least in beta.
Tarman 4 Posted June 11, 2012 I agree with OP.Sound plays as big a part as any other element of the game, no better time than the present seeing as you are still laying down the foundations.. I would happily donate throw money at the devs to make this happen.
mmarionz 6 Posted June 11, 2012 Yeah for a while the US Hadrcore servers were allowing JSRS.It was awesome added so much to the game, weapon and ambient sounds.Although at night it appeared when someone threw a chemlight or flare and it hit something that seemed to trigger a howitzer sound which gave you a hell of a fright :D
