hello, my name in dayz is doctorwho

I spent about 3 hours trying to find parts for a chopper. I evenually did. and then refueled it, took me ages to refuel it. I had to keep going back and forward continuously.

I evenually filled it 3/4 of a full tank.

Decided to now use the chopper and go to electro, just a flyby. then i was going to go to cherno just after. just before I got to electro flying in my chopper. server restarts.

oh no what happens to my chopper? what happens to me?

when I went back in, i wasn't flying no chopper, it said I was dead, but i wasn't dead. i was in the middle of nowhere. empty fields. no gear no nothing.

I am fuming. this is one of my rants.

there was another time a restart messed a chopper up.

this time I just finished fixing it up. took me hours. but everything was all green 5 mins to restart. I went to find jerry cans now. couldn't find any. omg restart.

ok came back found 2 jerry cans. and went back to chopper, refueled 2 cans, then I went into pilot seat just to see how much went in. nothing went in. everything was orange and no fuel went in. I was fuming then.

I thought it wouldn't happen the second time, but it never, it let me fly it for 2 mins. then restarted.

can this be fixed. please. this is making dayz very boring, im not getting fun out of the game because of me wasting time doing a chopper up. only for a restart to mess everything up.

when im bored with a game, i tend to not go back to the game for a very long time.

Learn the restart times in order to land your chopper prior to restart, or find a server that warns you periodically.

Most servers have 30 min + warnings that a restart is going to occur during the last 15 minutes is the best time to land all air vehicles and ensure this does not happen to you. I'm sorry to hear you are throwing in the towel but you might get the hankering to return. You can also try contacting the admin to advise him you were placed into the debug plain after the restart they may be able to fix your character.

Well that's your fault, essentially. If you don't look at the warnings, how are you supposed to know when it restarts?

maybe, it could be a little bit more visible, for example middle of the screen in big text. but yea, my fault in a bit. but restarts shouldn't mess everything up.

I hear what your saying about more visible but realisticly that would become a huge spam issue and cause more problems if you had a giant admin message posted across the middle of the screen if you were in say a firefight or any other kind of close call situation.

Ask a admin, usually a server does its restart every so often like we do our every six hours, and it pops up in red to let you know there is going to be a restart. So an admin, can prolly let you know how long it is going to be till the next restart, so you can watch the clock, and start looking for the msg, saying there is going to be a restart.

Server warnings and information about the server appear in red messages. It takes about 2 seconds to flick your eyes to the bottom left side of the screen. No leg to stand on here buddy, just the way it is...

Not having restarts would mess everything up. Just for the record. Usually if someone looses something due to a restart we will help them find a new one and all that stuff, if were on. I don't know about other servers but that is how we are :)

I like the OP have learned the hard way and been mid flight during restart. I only did this once and since then i do the following to ensure it does not happen again.

Find a server with less restarts. My current origins server is 12 hour restarts.

make sure your server gives warnings. The server I currently use has 15,10,4,3,2,1NOW! warnings. If you miss all of those then something is amiss so its very good.

Ask the server admin when the restart times are. if like this one its 12 hour I know its 2 times per day and I know its the same time AM/PM. That way you can set an alarm on your mobile or something. If it restarts every 4 hours as many do simply log the times and ask playrs/ admin when you join when next restart is!! you can use the thing you are playing the game on to set a warning bell/alarm a PC has many uses!

really if I was to be brutally honest I would say that you have failed to gather enough intel on the restart. However I do agree with the issue of the restart not being visible enough... perhaps an audio warning to go with it a simple set of tones or audio message could be implemented without too much trouble.

all this said... educate yourself and find the right server then learn its patterns.

I read to "doctorwho" and stopped caring. First of all, think of an original name, you mincy... ugh... Second, if you're going to use a proper noun, capitalize it! If I ever read "doctorwho" in chat/as a speaker, I'm shooting. I don't care how friendly you are, if you just saved my life, anything. Nothing kills more than terrible grammar.

Other than, well, cancer I guess. Or AIDS. Or... lots of things.

anyway restarts also reset's your work you done to a chopper. so if you have repaired it before the restart. after the restart you have to repair it again. bit silly if you ask me. :P

Not true. Sorry that you apparently suck at the game, but repaired vehicles stay repaired.

well I don't know about vehicles. but I mean choppers. they need repaired again str8 after restart. next time i will record it as a video and post it up. hate when people call me a lier.

grammer is not important, maybe in your little world it does. but certainly ain't in mine.

I don't suck, every other vehicle is fine, it's just those choppers. if you don't have anything valuable to say, don't bother to reply.

12 hours?! Origins needs to restart every 3-4 hours just to stay nice and smooth, let alone 12.

I am lucky to play on servers that restart pretty much every 2-3 hours.. Everything stays nice and fresh. But yeah never before have I repaired a car/bike/heli and have it still in of repair after restart. I've known some not so good servers to actually rollback the game a full 10 minutes on restarts, could be the issue?

The only thing that doesn't stick is drinking and eating just before restart.
