Standalone clothing system and heroes/bandits?

Recommended Posts

Hello people on the internet.

first of all, I know that the survivor HQ is not the right place to post this, but I haven't seen a questions forum. If a mod sees this and knows the right category, please move it there. thank you.

(oh, and excuse my awful english)

What I wanted to ask you is how the hero skin and bandit scarf will work with the new clothing system in DayZ standalone. Will you be able to take off your scarf? Or will heroes and bandits be entirely removed? Because I would not want bandits to be able to take off the scarf- players should always be able to tell if the player is a bandit or not. If players could take off the scarf, other players wouldn't know that they are going to kill them and so they could think they are friendly and then be shot in the back. I know that regular survivors do that, too, but after a couple of kills they become a bandit and so everyone will know they aren't friendly.

I would appreciate an answer.

The current skin system is being removed completely, whether it will be replaced by something else further down the line or not we don't know.

Hi mate, your English is great BTW.

Lot's of details for the SA haven't been disclosed yet but I doubt bandits will have scarves at all. There will be LOTS of different types of clothes to loot eventually so every character will look fairly different.

Rocket has talked about people maybe having blood on their hands ect. Maybe the way someone chooses to live will affect their features, really we don't know yet.

Thanks a lot, guys. I really hope that there will be a new way to tell if someone is a bandit fast (having to come close and look at their hands is kind of... dangerous). I also really hope that the heroes keep their rewards like the bulletproof vest or get another kind of reward for being helpful.

I quite enjoy the fact that there won't be hero/bandit skins, it makes it a lot more immersive for me.

You shouldn't be able to look at someone and instantly tell how likely they are to attack you by what they are wearing.

It will be interesting to see what concepts they will come up with though.

I have a different opinon on that. I find it more interesting right now, because regular survivors might be friendly, but also might not. When there are ONLY survivors, they are most likely hostile because DayZ has gained so much popularity that many people (let's just take the generic CoD player stereotype) who just want to kill people have joined.

The main thing I'm sad about is that heroes get removed- I really think you should be able to tell that that guy is probably friendly (and it also would be a reward for 'good' players because then they are less often killed because of paranoia)

I honestly hope they remove how to tell who is a bandit and who is not, just because someone has a bandit or hero skin, does not mean they will or won't shoot you, given the chance, I have been shot in the back by both on occasion but also helped by both.

To run up to a player not knowing if friendly or not would encourage interaction in a way, which I think is one thing the game lacks currently, most people will just KOS, especially if you have a bandit skin.

Would be alot more immersive for everyone to just have a neutral skin which they can then customise when they find new clothes to wear.

Well, I still think that there should be some kind of hero clothing/reward, but I agree that it would be an interesting new experience when there are no bandids.

From a visual standpoint, I think it would be a good thing to not have any distinct visible tell of who's a bandit or hero. We are all individuals with different playstyles, not just falling in 1 of 3 categories.

As far as rewards, I know Rocket has mentioned skills or jobs and whatnot, an since the current Hero of Dayz is basically a medic, you'll get to do a lot more on the medical side than your average joe I would assume. That and the thanks of my patients is the only reward I'll need.

Oh, I didn't know that... that would be pretty cool.

Well, but the hero costume (= medic uniform) would show your patients immediately that you are friendly... I think as a survivor you would get shot more because people are more paranoid when the bandits look like survivers, too... (in my opinion)

I think the pvp activity in general would increase... right now about... let's say 60% of the survivors are hostile and 100% of the bandits (of course). So if the bandits would get the survivor "skin", about 80-90% of the survivors would be hostile (Yes, I did the math wrong, but you know what I mean... hopefully). And then the 10-20% of friendly survivors would probably become hostile, too- simply out of self-defense and paranoia.

will there be a set of clothing like a vest, hat, jeans, and shirt that make you look like a hero because that would be awesome!

Oh god, I imagine bandits dressing up as heroes... the end has come.

Anything will be better than the current system, just have to wait and see!
