DayZ Commander opens using Steam

Recommended Posts

I bought ACR, BAF and PMC outside of Steam and for some reason they didn't work on Steam (incompatible CD keys or something like that), so I bought another copy of OA from the bistudio store and installed all four of them. They all worked perfectly fine and I could play both the DLCs and OA fine, outside of Steam. I could also play DayZ using DayZ Commander for a long time. A few days ago, after not playing DayZ for a while (making no changes to my ArmA installation), I loaded up DayZ Commander, updated it and joined a server, where Steam opened itself and ran OA through Steam, thus changing the CD key to the Steam one and corrupting my DLC installations. I just changed my CD key back using GOG.com's CD key activator (I bought it from GOG.com) and OA worked, but when starting DayZ it always switches back to Steam and corrupts my DLCs. The DLCs wouldn't be a problem, however it prevents me from joining any server as I fail signature checks (the DLC files aren't "tailored" to my game CD key) and so it kicks me. I've tried starting through Play withSIX and all it does is require updates to my DayZ files (which are already up-to-date) and then doesn't even load DayZ anyway.

Is there a way to permanently stop DayZ Commander from using Steam? Even if I close Steam it opens it and runs multiple instances of the game (two on Steam and two out of Steam) and then I get messages about the game already running. I've disabled the 'play with Steam' option on DayZ Commander before anyone suggests that. I can play all of my games without Steam, even the Steam installation of OA; it's just Commander that insists on opening through Steam.

Other then disabling the steam options in DZC, I'd check DZC isn't being pointed to Steams ArmA/OA/DayZ directories (under the settings menu in DZC) or uninstall the steam versions entirely.

I've tried uninstalling the Steam version and overriding the directories, but it still insists on changing my CD key regardless because I have purchased it and DZC for some reason wants to use Steam. What I've found it is opens both the Steam and ordinary versions; if I update Steam to/from its beta and open it through DZC while it's updating, it'll open another instance of Steam (which also has to update) while it opens a non-Steam version of the game; is there a way for me to just completely disable it using Steam?

Nevermind, I found through Play withSIX that running ArmA as an admin caused Steam to run it (for some reason)

Thanks for the suggestion anyway.
