BattlEye won't update to 1.195 - kicked as resault.

Recommended Posts

Greetings, fellow survivors.

The following issue is not affecting me, but a good friend of mine. I do not know all the details of his software nor hardware so bare with me.

He is running a Windows 8 machine, that much I know.

He last played about a week ago, while the BE client was still at 1.192.

The problem he's encountering, as the title says, is that his BattlEye is unable to update.

He has tried a wide variaty of solutions, but to no avail. Including re-installing everything, that means DayZCommander as well.

We where going to play on our usual private hive server and when he got in to the server lobby, BE complained that his client version was out of date,

Subsequently it tried to prompt the update of said client, but instead of successfully installing the update the game crashed and he got the standard Windows error message.

A fresh install of Arma 2, Arma 2 OA and DayZCommander was made, but to little success.

At that point he tried to alter something in the registry, per Google's suggestion - that as well with poor resaults.

Client files from BattlEye's website were downloaded and inserted in to specified folders - no dice.

His current BE client version is 1.182. It wants to install the 1.195 version, which we can't seem to be able to find manually, since the BattlEye download section only features the 1.6 client version.

He has now given up for the night and will try again tomorrow. Before he left, he uninstalled everything and set it to download so we could start fresh tomorrow evening.

Is there anything else we could try that would aid in our quest for Baked beans and Ghillie suits?

(Note that every standard prosedure has been taken. i.e. starting Arma 2 and OA before launching DayZ, etc etc.)

Sincerely,

0ptiC

Hello & Welcome, Optic.

Has your mate tried turning *off* his anti-virus software and connecting to an official hive server (or any BattlEye enabled server) to let it auto-update? I've seen this work for people having the same type of issue.

Let us know.

Cheers,

-Jimmy

Uninstalling doesn't mean starting fresh; the registry values, folders, and a lot of .dll's aren't deleted or removed on uninstall.

Uninstall A2OA, BattlEYE, and use a program like Advanced System Care or CCleaner to completely obliterate BattlEYE left over files from your registry (NOT ArmA2OA files completely; never take risks with getting a CD key deletion-related problem).

Next time you run OA, it should ask you if you want to install BattlEYE. If that doesn't bring it up to date, then I don't know. Sorry :)

Jimmy, he did actually just install AVG 2013, this might be the issue. He was reluctant to uninstalling it, since turning off an AV-program is not always as easy as it sounds.

Applejaxc, this is more or less what I told him to do as well.

Steam does save the game serial in the cloud, does it not? That would mean there would be no harm in removing absolutely everything?

EDIT: After reflecting upon your answers with my friend, we decided upon the following actions:

- Before starting everything up we will try to disable the AV-software and try to connect to a hive server.

If that fails:

- Try a fresh reinstall, using CCleaner before installing and wiping absolutely everything.

- Install fresh and disabling the AV-software.

Resaults of above stated actions will be posted in this topic tomorrow night - come failure or success.

I apprechiate your quick responses reguarding our little misfortune. They were very helpful.

I bid you all a good night.

Sincerely,

0ptiC

yeah it does save the key in his steam account but the battleye dll is kept in appdata and thats a hidden folder that requires admin access if he go to

C:\Users\YOUR USER HERE \AppData\Local\ArmA 2 OA

and delete everything in that folder

restart steam as admin (right click and select run as administrator)

start arma 2 oa and sit in a low ping batteye enabled multiplayer game and wait for battleye to update

A new day, new adventures.

When we again decided to venture on the loansome and scary roads of Chernarus we found ourselves at a point where everything was working as intended.

After the last action - being yet another reinstall - my companion managed to connect to a server and update his BattlEye automatically, from the server.

In conclusion, we can say that every action taken to find a solution was, all in all, two reinstalls of the game as a whole.

No attempts with Anti-Virus disabling, nor wiping of all files. Though, I suppose those are valid solutions as well.

Code works in mysterious ways.

I hope other Wanderers, who's experiencing this - or similar problem - finds this topic usefull.

Happy scavanging.

Sincerely,

0ptiC & Kundvagn.
