Sacriel 0 Posted June 19, 2012 Greetings,I was wondering if anyone had any concrete info on using two CDkeys to play Arma 2.Some of you may recognise my name from my youtube channel where I produced a beginners guide (when I was a beginner) and more recently high end videos showing Ghillie/M24/DMR and Squad play.Since the new patch dropped I am itching to experience the new beginners experience however I don't really want to suicide a 7 day old character geared to the teeth. I am more than willing to buy a second set of Arma2+Arrowhead retail keys to facilitate my ability to produce content for new players.Does anyone out there currently swap between CD keys to effectively have two DayZ accounts. All the posts I have been able to find previously have been 'you could try' 'maybe you could install it twice' but no follow up on how it turned out.
ethan.lane24@gmail.com 0 Posted June 19, 2012 Hey Sacriel, I really enjoy your YouTube videos. Keep 'em coming :DAnyways -Here's what you do:1. Create a new steam account2. Rebuy Arma for the new steam account3. Freshly install the new Arma (might not need to)4. Run both Arma 2 and Operation Arrowhead at least ONCE5. Install the latest betavvvvvvOptional!vvvvvv Only do this if you want to actually play on same accoun with different CD key6. Copy the arma2oa.exe from your beta folder and replace your current one in your OA folder7. Switch to your old steam account8. Add a non-steam game9. Select the arma2oa.exe10. Right-click your new shortcut and go to properties11. Add this after the target quotes: -mod=Arma2;EXPANSION;CA -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -mod=@DayZ -nosplash12. Rename your steam shortcut if you wish13. Run the new shortcut and you'll run your new game with your new GUID through steamTo get back on old account: Run Arma 2 or Arma 2: OA on your OLD account. Doing so will reset your key and GUID back to the original one. To undo this, log back onto your new steam account with the new copy and run it there to reset back to your NEW key and GUID.Hope this helps :D99% positive this works :DEdit: I deleted my 1.7.1.1 files, if you happened to still have them or something could you please give me a link? I really want to play but not on 1.7.1.2, because the only server I can play on is 1.7.1.1. (I know the problem about server so no advice please)

Just buy and install! :D Also, I finally found the 1.7.1.1 files so no biggie on that.
hedich 0 Posted June 19, 2012 ill add a tl;dr version here,1. New steam account2. buy the game3. play like you normally do on your main but with the new steam account.some information: when you start the game with your MAIN account on steam the game is set ('guid') to that account and you can close it down and use six updater or whatever you want.same goes for the second steam account, you have to launch the game once first and then close it down to have the game set to that 'guid'*the above info is just needed if you use a third party tool to launch the game (i always use six updater as that is the fastest and most easiest way EVER to launch everything arma)we are three people that play arma 2 in this house and on this computer, works like a charm this way.*edit - not sure how this would work on non steam copies though, Maby have to go in with regedit ><
Rinner23 5 Posted June 19, 2012 Supposedly you can install the different game versions using different windows accounts.. but I have not been able to get it to work at all =(
Sacriel 0 Posted June 19, 2012 OkSo i installed the game via steamif i load arma2 through steam librarby, and load a DayZ server - I connects me to my pre-existing characterSo now I have a £50 Character testing this alpha.Any ideas how I can get the CDKEY from steam and enter it into the Reg, or does DayZ do something mental like log your PC ID and only allow one account per PC?Supposedly you can install the different game versions using different windows accounts.. but I have not been able to get it to work at all =(Looking at the registry, steam has updated my ARMA2 key, but not my ARMA OA keyso DayZ is looking in my reg, getting my OLD key and using it to tie me into my OLD accountHow can I apply my new CD key into the registry? it appears to be encoded
